Older decoder monitored - recording issues have returned.

They've added some temp chs. to the package, which strangely enough worked with first use of a preferred ch., today it's failing...
Reboot / re-tune within hours before usually helps.

I guess it suits some industry leaders, rather encourage us all to stream for ultimate $$ results...

The first worldwide test cricket competition final, New Zealand v India , messed up by MC - initial day 1 was rained out so no hilites package, MC in their wisdom decided to name the actual play days "day 2" to "day 6".

Why? From what I've witnessed it looks like they were snoozing until after the weekend. Guess they'll blame Covid.
Here's what happened on my side.

Older decoder - confusion caused no "day 4" to arrive on Catch Up at all. :(

Explora 1 - had set a reminder for the 5:00 broadcast hilites of "day 5" on ch. 212. Last night I found that the subsequent two time slots on the channel had somehow automatically been given reminders as well in my Schedules list, for the same event.
Examination of the EPG (guide) shows no change, just scheduled for 5:00.:rolleyes:

Today is "day 6", wish me luck.

Last about the cricket, mostly resolved.

According to my recording, what MC called "day 4" on the ch. 212 hilites was actually a mislabelled repeat of "day 3" (play day 2), confusion caused by another day washed out by rain - IOW there was no play on "day 4" and so the Catch Up team were correct.

LOL... :- (

Trying to watch QI last night at 20h00 on BBC Brit (Ch.120) with the DSTVNow app on my Samsung Tablet was a bust - EVERY 4 minutes or so - up popped the 'Whoops, Something Has Gone Wrong!" message, with the dreaded PER1 error code displayed - then you had to tap on RETRY to get back in again - 4 minutes later - SAME STORY AGAIN - after 4 such interruptions over a quarter of an hour, I just gave up with trying to watch QI... I will watch the repeat on my Android box - hopefully it does not suffer the same problem as well...

Glad we aren't the only ones. PER0 or PER1 errors constantly on DSTVNow. Also the streaming quality is super low. I suspect DSTV is trying to discourage people sharing accounts.

Reboot day again today. Brian established it is because they have added another transponder.
11848 H, DVB - S2.
What for who knows.

Tried to watch Chicago PD (Ch.117) on my Samsung tablet last night - the second episode had continual PER1 errors popping up every 4 minutes or so for the 1st 20 minutes - then I had to tap RETRY to get back in again - miraculously it then seemed to sort itself out for the last 20 minutes of the episode and never reappeared again...

Been having the same problem for the last 4 weeks as well, on Chrome and edge browsers. Have tried to find a solution on multiple sites, but it looks like DSTV has no clue about this error, or according to one blog, they do know about but are ignoring it, because they don’t know how to fix it. Waisted hours with the call center only to be told, “there’s no such error message as this”. I see there are even people who have complained on Hello Peter about this, with a few who have cancelled their subs.

Anyone willing to send me their logins for legit testing, could be ISP/routing issues.

Im putting up my hand as someone that also gets the PER1 error on the Mibox android app
So far, touch wood, the DSTVNow app on my eMatic AGT419 Android box has performed 99.9% faultlessly - no PER1 error messages at all (so far) - only one or two infrequent 'connectivity hiccups' which are more than likely signal strength or congestion issues with the Telkom LTE-A towers in my area.

It's only using the DSTVNow app on my Samsung Galaxy Tab3 tablet (which runs on Android 4.4.2) that seems to have the PER 1 problem...

Month-end issues with the decoder and online guides, again, despite some regular reporting to the source :oops:

Ch. 115 M-Net City - for the last 9 days I've been monitoring how they continue to stuff up, every day from Thurs. 1st onwards supposedly has mostly the same content, exaggerated time slot lengths, and missing time slots.

Unbelievable...
Why would anyone still believe they care??

More from the M-Net group - the popular series "Shameless" has them completely confused, like newbies.
Not sure if we should  or :crying:

We saw the last season 11 a few months ago on ch. 101, so are certain about the facts here. Especially since one character "dies", and is "back"...

1. They scheduled S11 for this week on ch. 115, which later disappeared from the schedule.
2. So called "S11E01" then incorrectly (as a Premium repeat) arrived on Catch Up (CU) - except the content is actually something new, and included is the dead character.
3. They then announced that we're getting the side-series called "Shameless: Hall Of Shame S01" on ch. 101 from next week. (6 episodes.)
4. Then S11 turned up on ch. 101 instead, now also from next week, where it was broadcast originally, and the article claims it's new...

Conclusions:
1. The CU item is actually S01E01 of the new series.
This resultant confusion is partially Hollyweird's fault - their own synopsis claims it's an episode mostly based on Ian & Mickey's history, but that's just a small and far-from-detailed part of it.
2. Confirmed wrongly guessed at by the synopsis for the real S11E01 which we recognise.
3. If not realised and S11 returned to ch. 115, many on smaller packages will miss out and nobody seeing it on ch. 101 will be interested.

4. This MC is a sad organisation. Ticking clock doesn't seem to change much, so I'll just add may they rest in peace.

Is this not some confusion regarding season numbers? The final season on;ly ended in the USA on 11 April this year - I am pretty sure we have not seen it yet?

The Hall of Shame series is a six-episode limited series retrospective that aired during the final season in the US It contains new and original Shameless scenes with a retrospective look at each character's journey during the prior seasons.

It was recent, and known to be the last.
And why did they first put it on ch. 115 a few weeks ago?

An initial clue I had - the person who died
Frank
says any newer appearance of said character wouldn't be possible, except in a retrospective series.

Sort of what the CU episode does, but about many of them, and in other ways seems more like a remake.

I don't want to delve to deep into the details as I am not sure that I have seen this season and don't want to come across any spoilers. :)

But regarding the other retrospective series, each of the 6 episodes covers certain characters and their stories through the previous 10 season - with old as well as some new footage.

ep1: Ian & Mickey
ep2: Kev & V
ep3: Lip
ep4: Debbie, Carl & Liam
ep5: Fiona
ep6: Frank

Yeah, it's certainly strange that what we're seeing is partly that and no more, but new.
And hardly long-term retrospective.

I'm convinced, except that you don't usually miss anything like this... guess we'll find out later.

My Explora 2A keep saying "Disk is full", although it's not. This results in no recordings and no catch up. Took out the disk, formatted it to NTFS and worked fine on my laptop. Formatted it back to EXT4, put it back and everything was working, catch up and recordings working fine. Suddenly yesterday it stated the disk full error again. Is it possible that MC could cause the error by updating software and forcing to buy new decoder?
