My Explora 2A keep saying "Disk is full", although it's not. This results in no recordings and no catch up. Took out the disk, formatted it to NTFS and worked fine on my laptop. Formatted it back to EXT4, put it back and everything was working, catch up and recordings working fine. Suddenly yesterday it stated the disk full error again. Is it possible that MC could cause the error by updating software and forcing to buy new decoder?
That stupid "disk full error" is erroneously triggered whenever a reserved partition for BO/CU, is triggered. The problem is MC have failed since the beginning to ensure that error is not seen as a global "full" error and then inhibit all functionality. The error is therefore in the sw which is failing to manage error messages properly.

It has been recurring since forever with virtually every single decoder model at some stage or another.

It even happens when the area used on the HDD for storing temporary data about the EPG, the never-ending fiddling with transponder records, and other things happens.

Personally, I don't think anyone left in DSTV is capable of being that devious, --- they are just incompetent.

According to News24 headlines it's just consideration tests they're running for now, unless you have a link to this in SA?

Looks like it is available already in Zim.
No just saw an article with this info (incl. ZAR prices). Seems like a good solution, except they must not force the base R299 package on you. Still have easyview for example at R29 and allow you to add sport and movie add-ons. Easyview at R29 + rugby, cricket, motorsport and tennis at R349 sounds like a good offer to me

Agree, but you'll likely wait ages until they're that desperate.

When they started add-movies, they first made the mistake of including EasyView so I got away with it for a couple of months

Could explain all the messing around with transponders? And why it took so long to recover from the latest addition? And why ALL settings for channels were just cancelled even TBR/MR settings.

Just leave the exiting packages in place and allow additions as you want when you want it.

NB Brian. How long ago did we on the old forum not make precisely this suggestion? Can you remember?
Can you remember the BS reasons why not MC Brenda and MC Marietjie trotted out why it could not be done?

We probably started discussing it about 8 to 10 years ago.
Yep, they claimed that much individual control was technically impossible. Marietjie did correct herself years later, some techie said to her it could now be done to some degree.

Funny how cost-impossible it was said to be as well, remember? Then we started seeing places like NZ(?) doing it?

HI Geoff..... Thanks for this.... appreciated.

Tried to watch an episode of Car SOS - NatGeo (Ch.181) - at 15h00 this afternoon on my tablet - as per usual, the dreaded PER1 error kept on popping up about EVERY FOUR MINUTES or so - it seems to possibly be some sort of 'authentication bug' - as I also got the 'You have exceeded the number of devices allowed to stream simultaneously' error message pop up halfway through the episode - even though I was the ONLY one at that point in time busy streaming content using the DSTVNow app on a mobile device...

Here is a link to the article . The base subscription would be R299 your choice of sport package would be R349 extra plus ??? connection fee of R110

Thanks.

Surprised that they're talking Rands, I see the link is a Zimbabwean one.
I suppose if not US Dollars they rely on Rands.

Seems my primary decoder (first explora) has finally packed up. There is no picture or sound.
The iplate displays and I can see the options when you press the help key on the remote.

Pressing the catchup button shows the various titles and when trying to watch a program screen is blank.

Software shows its up to date Zeus3-7e8c1d D1.341.2.16L:146.

The secondary decoder seems fine without any issues.

Any idea what the issue could be?

Sounds like a partial failure of the audio / video processing, likely unrepairable. Try find an Explora 2A, only model as good as this first Explora one. If needed they will be able to transfer content from model 1 to the 2A, at main branches.

That's all from me.

IF the decoder is still able to send HB pulses to the secondary then the chances are it is just something affecting the decoder/TV interface. Try some of the other outputs first ( RF out. RCA/ composite etc)

You Sir deserve a bells!!
I unplugged the HDMI and reconnected it and voila all working again.

Thanks

And I told dstv to change my email address, dstv now and dstv are different places where you need to change it.

After 12 days of BS info from ch. 115 they've finally woken up, looks fixed.

@krugie - jury's still out re Shameless, definitely proof of much wrong already but I'll wait another 2 to 9 days for the full picture, let me know if you want the unrevealing details.

Thinus reported on this a while ago as well and that it is definitely under consideration for SA but that it could be months or even years away. He also stressed that MC was just putting feelers out in terms of surveys etc and that no decision has been made on whether to implement this at all. Apparently it is one of several options they are looking at because of the onslaught of streaming services,

You are more than welcome to post any unrevealing details. :) After yesterday I can confirm that I have most definitely not seen series 11 with the characters wearing COVID masks for most of the episode... haha. I can't say I enjoyed the episode much - it felt almost like a COVID documentary - but maybe that was just a once off thing. I am hoping it will be more back to normal from episode 2.

I have not yet watched episode 1 of the Hall of Shame series - will do so by the end of today.
