How do you rate the DStv service *technically* ?

Hi all,

Hoping someone can assist.
Im currently using DSTV now on a LG smart TV, worked flawlessly but now im having an issue whereby only channel 203 does not work. Keeps buffering or giving Error 403 or just says something went wrong.
All the other channels work with no issue.

Now with United playing the UEFA tonight wont be able to watch , please help.

Do a connectivity check, shows there's no problem. Go back to the app, same error. WTAF? :rolleyes:

Possibly not related but maybe DSTV is up to something again. Last night my Explore Ultra had the red WiFi light lit up on the front panel indicating there is no internet connection although - like with you - connectivity checker proved differently and I was able to download CU+ content. The light only tuned off about 30 minutes after I noticed it (and proved it wrong).
 
For those still keeping track of the loss of channels, on the heels of Fox, apparently on 01 Nov M-Net City and Vuzu are merging into 1 channel.

Looks like both the DSTVNow app on my brother's eMatic AGT419 Android box and on his Huawei phone refused to connect to Channel 215 earlier this morning when he wanted to watch the repeat of yesterday's bike racing qualifying session - up came the dreaded PER0 error message - and he was forced to boot up his dinosaur laptop to watch it using Google Chrome.

However, when we checked again at around 07h15 or so, mysteriously the DSTVNow app on both the eMatic box and his phone could now connect successfully to Channel 215...

So the Lethal Legends pop-up movies on ch. 113 has already ended but still no sign of any of that on my Exploda 1's catch up / catch up plus as advertised... not that anyone here was into the 90%+ focus on Chuck Norris or Steven Seagal.

Wotta joke.
 
More about the channel replacing M-Net City and Vuzu on 01 Nov.... just looks like more of the same to me.... or should I say less of the same...
Sounds juvenile.

And they've confirmed another mistake for me.
While VUZU is available to DStv Premium, DStv Compact Plus, DStv Compact and DStv Family subscribers,...
They currently have Access package getting a free trial period of Family package, but VUZU is missing from it.

I wonder if 1Magic might be at risk too... the various versions of ch. 103 has never survived long term.
 
Anyone here remember the sneaky post-midnight series on the main movie channels that we all used to discuss on the old forum?
Well, something similar is happening now, with previous Box Office movies they apparently don't always want to widely offer later on.

(For those who don't know, we learnt that studio contract rights sometimes require behaviour not always liked by MultiChoice, such as having to publicly air what could otherwise have made more money.)

Then comes the fun bit - coincidentally... the screening times are being messed with, currently they change a few times a day sometimes. Just sayin', could be more mismanagement instead.
 
I get the E32-4 Validation thing now every day. It cancels anything I'm busy recording. Anyone else?

We get it on one decoder after reboots / loadshedding. They seem to do it for a period then it disappears again.

Try asking for a "digital reset" for that smartcard, should help. If the agent doesn't know what that is the supervisor should, but good luck getting one out of their endless "meetings".

I can watch sabc just fine
 
On your decoder? He meant online / mobile, I can confirm it was all off.

It looks like there was a blackout across all platforms on Saturday:

SABC2 shows Muvhango in silence on Friday as the South African public broadcaster's TV channels experience a blackout

On Saturday morning after an unexplained blackout of the SABC's TV channels, the broadcaster said on the Twitter feeds of its SABC1, SABC2 and SABC3 channels that "We apologise for the earlier blackout, however we are back".

There's not been any explanation for what took the channels off air.
