On the non-PVR guide it only gives 1 day and no synopses.
On the PVR type guide most of the channels are now completely blank.
May be an error rather than intentional experimenting for once - since seen that its 8 days on both are actually from last Tuesday until the coming Tuesday. The non-PVR one has synopses for its "first two days".
But then nobody is monitoring it.

 Well done MC. Starting to think this was your annus horribilis, not that much is expected for next year.

Now no day 8 on the Explora 1.... why are we wasting our time?

Edit: Looks like they're busy with it at least.

Ok, so I've had 2 BO rentals on my primary decoder yesterday and today, not by anyone in my family  My assumption is that it could only have been done online, which then might have gone to the primary decoder and whoever rented it can still watch it online . Any ideas ? Obviously, DSTV says " but we can confirm the movie was rented. It is even evident on your side too as you have said it shows Rented" after I asked for an explanation of how this can happen, Btw, this was after they couldn't find my cust number or ID on the system. So I sent them a screenshot of my invoice

I've obviously changed my DSTV pw since.

The Flatey Enigma (2018)
Post-midnight miniseries on 106 MM2 on Mon. 3 Jan, 4 episodes from 0225 to 0635. Usually no repeats.
BTW, first 2 episodes are listed supposedly in reverse order

Nordic / Icelandic murder mystery.

(This one's story seems too mild and possibly woke-ish for my lot though.)

On the Explora there's an option to lock BO hire access (in a st00pidly unrelated menu section), maybe it can help if an error.. or at least help you prove with a witness that you did that.

Watch Now \ BoxOffice \ BoxOffice Rental Blocking

Just switched over to MNET (Ch.101) to watch the double-bill of NCIS - using Google Chrome on Windows 11 on my i7 PC - looks like the streaming picture quality is actually set to MEDIUM (up to 576p) even AFTER changing it on SETTINGS to LOW (up to 360p)... the text on the end credits for the preceding programme - Legacy - are CRYSTAL CLEAR with NO visible artefacts, blurring or fuzziness at all...

UPDATE 1 - 19h38

Then this just appeared...

Took me about 4 minutes to re-establish the connection & rewind back to where it cut off.up randomly in the middle of what I'm watching

This pops up 4-5 times an hour with no warning. No glitching or buffering beforehand.

Also got the same message yesterday a number of times (Windows 10/Edge/i5), while at the same time streaming on my phone (via WiFi) without issues. Pic quality initially bad, but recovered within a minute or so

Has anyone experienced that the dstv now app on my Lit media box stops working every night after 11pm. rebooting does not help. the next day it works fine until after 11pm
I need to mention it will still work on my laptop?

Done that... blocked with a pin

This is crazy! Isn't there an option to close your BO account on DSTV's side - even if temporarily? I wonder whether it logs you out online when the password is changed.... knowing DSTV that might not happen. I think it does on the DSTV Now app at least.

There is also the possibility that DSTV systems just failed (once again) and someone else's BO was somehow linked to your account. Let them check whether any strange phone numbers are linked to your account. I also wasn't even aware that a movie becomes available on your decoder if you rent it online.

Was told that BO can't be disabled for that decoder. Regarding the movie becoming available on the decoder after online renting... that's pure speculation on my side :) That's one way I could explain someone renting a movie on my primary decoder while I'm busy watching on the secondary :) I even got the "Grab the popcorn" notification on my phone.

Right now I'm waiting for "Our team is currently busy with the escalation and we will revert back with feedback once provided"

Merry Christmas everyone!

I have a,question for the techies! I have a 4K QLED Samsung TV and on the Explora 2A video settings they suggest 1080i as the video output. On the Ultra they have a new Auto option which is the one they suggest and I picked up that then uses 1080p. I can't really pick up a difference in picture quality but the text (on the TV Guide for example) does look different.

So, should I change the 2A to 1080p as well or the Ultra to 1080i? Are there specific benefits or disadvantages to either? As far as I know the broadcasts are not 1080p but the Ultra chooses that as the most suitable option? Might be related to the Ultra supporting Netflix and 4K?

Merry Christmas from me too!

The main factor here is that we eventually pulled the MC techies' teeth long enough to actually get this basic answer - under 50'' use 720p else use 1080i.
And 1080i is definitely the highest available via our satellites.
The old "720p is best for sport" idea seems to have gone out the window too.

That said, your Ultra may be upscaling, and these decoders seem to usually do that well.
My rule of thumb is go with your eye, even if it takes a long time to determine that for sure.

BTW, there may still be some channels broadcast at 720p so expect some variation.

@krugie - is that the Ultra that only gets online streaming? Either way are you talking about streaming then?

If so, that's another game, I've no idea how high that quality goes but would go with the machine's choice if/when it goes over 1080i.

Thanks! I suspect Auto is the best setting for the Ultra as I might loose 4K on Netflix if I change it - although I haven't checked.

It just irritates me a bit that the menu fonts now look slightly different on the 2 decoders...haha! But I don't want to change the 2A to 1080p if there are any disadvantages although it will solve my personal visual perspective issue :)

Both my TV and my Amp supports upscaling as well but I can see on the info panel on the TV menu that changing the setting on the 2A does indeed lead to either a 1080i or 1080p image on the TV. I have been baffled for a few days now why the 2 decoders menus look different on screen and finally picked all of this up today.

No it's the normal Ultra with satellite signal - referring to satellite images on screen.

I'm a fiddler, so would probably switch as needed to get the supposed best of both but your call of course ;- )

Got a telescope launch to watch so won't be here till later, enjoy!
