Okay - the basic details but doubt it will help anybody.

Account was upgraded & downgraded too many times in a short period. The final downgrade, which was a big one, never happened. System then said next amount was only due on Jan. 1st in the year "0001" , lol.

The next day that had corrected, but still no downgrade and system claims there's 10 days of credit being given which isn't done by MC at all, so... who knows
There had been earlier errors as well.

Any questions? Tough if there are :X3:

That is a bugger up, may the good fortune last, for who ever the system is favoring.

Anyone else having issues?
What issues are you having ...... ?

I am, with the DStv Stream app.

Had basic login authentication issues which I managed to resolve over the phone with an agent.

But now the app keeps logging me out even when I simply close a stream I've been watching, nevermind close the app itself to come back to later.

Never used to do this ; have reinstalled the app twice now, looked at app permissions and whatever I do - leave things as default or make some changes - still the same result.
I don't intend logging in multiple times a day.

Plus, cannot use the Android TV DStv app now, as that relies on the phone app staying logged in all the time.

If I can't get it to remember my details as it used to, that's the end of DStv for me, for good, after this current billing cycle in about 10 days time.

I only want it for a limited number of thinga to watch ; Frikkie & Co. might soon lose another customer forever.

Can't say for sure it's related, but seems likely - a number of channels for other countries are giving trouble on satellite, have been for some time now. They're hard at work this afternoon and have listed an apology. Looks to me like a coding config mess up, mainly re Zambia and the new SuperSport arrangement in ROA.

Appreciate this info even if not directly related.

I'm inclined to think that them messing around with their systems in any way, is resulting in issues they're perhaps unaware of.

Only thing that surprises me is if they are messing up logging in (to the extent I've been affected), others relying on the streaming option only, aren't complaining as well.

Yep, been the case for around 40 years now. Their security takes full priority and endless issues with the subscriber-base as they call it turned out to be due to Frikkie's lot. Even decoder software.

But have to admit they've finally stopped most of the hiccups in recent years, streaming still much excluded as we know. Their newer final control probably helps.

Looks as though I'll need to phone them again tomorrow - to try resolve / escalate - as I've just finished watching a catch-up episode of something.

As soon as I exited that episode, it logged me out of the app.

It's more annoying than I imagined it would be, as I (can) only log back in when there's something I want to see, for that single instance, whether a few minutes or an hour or more.

As soon as I close an episode, I'm booted out & back to square one.

This morning I'm fine on dstv.stream with one account, but another account via Kodi is now struggling to log in (which is the equiv. of a smart TV app.)
In this case if I stop a stream on Kodi and wait a minute or so, it is starting again properly.

i-Plate on some of my Explora's channels is also out of synch again, so definitely issues on the SA system as well.

Break a leg 🫤

Eish!!!!

Surely not that difficult to just do things properly. But then this is DSTV and South African. :(

At least the Stream seems back to where it was, which means not logging me (one) out all the time.

But other issues still exist, like "Watch from start" not going back to the beginning of a show or news broadcast (only 1/2 an hour back in that case).

It then auto exits back to the menu.
When you try opening it again, it still thinks you're streaming, so you're met with this message (screenshot), so have to wait a while until it calms down & let's you go back to stream.

The only partial way around this, is to go back manually using the progress bar, but from what I've found, it won't get you fully back to the beginning of an episode.

This is all happening in the Android smartphone app ; on Android TV (Xiaomi Mi box) "Watch from start" works as one would expect it to.

Still work for them to do, if they even realise it .... (Android phone app.).

What do you know ; I "spoke" too soon ....

In the time it took me to go the previous message + a bit more time, I went back to the app and whadda ya know - had logged me out, so definitely not fixed.

Have to phone & see if they know what's going on, which I'm not too optimistic about.

Depends where you are these days I hear. @Geoff.D has been involved in some threads helping others in CT, and I've heard eTV etc. were cut off by Sentech. And some talk about the DTT towers already getting too old :-/

Personally I haven't set it up yet (following SA's example, lol). Not sure I will, depends somewhat on the fate of eMovies channels on DStv but there's OpenView as well of course.

Have to phone & see if they know what's going on, which I'm not too optimistic about.
For the record, after the agent eventually understood what the problem was, then left me on hold for about 8 to 10 minutes to get suggestions, the 25 minute call (approx.) amounted to nothing worthwhile.

Have cleared the cache & everything related, shut down & restarted the phone, reinstalled the app (for the 3rd time) and ...... yes, after about 2 minutes I've been logged out.

If unable to find a phone setting causing this (have checked the app's own settings already), will cancel by the 30th October.

I watch on my laptop and after every movie/episode, I get the "streaming limit" warning. Have to refresh between 5 and 8 times to carry on again. Cookies clearing makes no difference

Kodi shows us how long the time-out is scheduled to (normally) last - under 90 seconds, mostly about 60 to 70 secs., so if you wait that long you shouldn't need to keep trying which seems to reset it again.

Edit: Kodi addon seem to work tho

Website still working for me.

This is typical though - through the years the strange situation of one working but the other not has often been seen.
Maybe @BCR will also come right later, who knows
