Dear DStv - technical faults thread

How do you rate the DStv service *technically* ?

Having drama with extraview at my folks place.

explora 3a , singleview 5s ( None have rf for heartbeat, as far as i understand it now goes via the LNB) primary sends HB, but the 5s isnt receiving , changed the LNB, changed the cabling, phoned dstv, broke extraview, relinked , but each time it works for an hour or two , and then the secondary goes back to e143-0

anyone with any idea's?

There's the clue - that it's working for hours. Can then only be faulty decoder(s) or a faulty setup on MC's side.

Best way to deal with it is to take all decoders in to one of their main service branches. But as you'll have realised, you could be there for hours... 😖
Unless you can arrange to leave it there for a day or two.

I have another single view, will swap it out the 5s and see if it makes a difference

either that, or head to MC head office for 8am tomorrow morning
 
What's going on with the iPlate, scrolling to a channel and pressing OK does not bring up the option to watch, only record etc.

Anyone else have this kuk, its been doing this for months.

problem solved, i had a UEC decoder ( also newer HD ) , swapped it with the chinese skyworth ****, and immediately it worked
 
Side note…. Netflix live streaming > dstv supersport

This boxing live streaming quality is phenomenal

I am getting error PER 190121 on my laptop since last sunday. However Android app works fine.

Any idea on the issue or meaning of the error code?
 
The crap DSTV subscribers are given, and have to endure in, exchange for paying a Premium Subscription.

Only way to fix it sufficiently is to stop it being a monopoly. We thought online streaming was going to do that, but it hasn't. Maybe Canal+ then...

Have serious doudts, that DSTV will ever manage to do anything properly, and give their long suffering customers that which they pay for and expect to get
 
DSTV ERROR CODE: PER 190121
I'm technology disabled but trying my damdest best here, please could someone try and assist an old guy out with a DSTV NOW issue I'm having? The damn thing show PER 190121 all of a sudden. We went away for a few weeks and when we returned we cant watch anything. DSTV now opens up fine, scrolls fine, even get previews with audio fine. But when we select a channel to view... bam!!! PER 190121...

Did You manage to get this sorted? I have exactly the same problem now...
 
I have not made any progress in solving this issue
I'm running through an old pc hooked to my T.V.
Looking now to upgrade my desktop and see if it's my pc or not.

I'm on a break so just some quick (possible) help - their recent security and features update messed up many people's streaming access, which slowly started coming right but not for some.

For PC's may depend on if you use Windows, on Ubuntu just some browsers now work, like Firefox. Kodi working again as well. But some with similar setups get different results.
Sounds like they're still fiddling....... so you could get a fix, or wait months like I did last time, or... who knows :- (

Other issue is / was some Smart TV's not keeping up with the upgrades. One brand that kept getting mentioned before is Samsung.

Calling them is unlikely to help, unless a supervisor can get some specialist involved and then it might just be at least short term bad news anyway.

My DStv tech. issue of continually getting logged out for the last 2 months (and having to therefore log back in all the time) has finally been solved - not by them, but by me cancelling Stream.

Happened yesterday evening - took a call to Randburg to get it sorted, because even though the DStv WhatsApp channel confirmed the day before my cancellation would go ahead yesterday, I could see during the day my channels hadn't disappeared (still had access to Access!).

Amazingly, there was a balance on the account, even though I put through the canx well within the time needed, before the next billing cycle was to start.

Agent said it would take a further 2 hours, because she'd send it through to Cancellations dept. from what I could make out (calls there aren't the clearest) ; when I told her why I was cancelling, she must've taken pity, so put me through straight away.

Explained yet again to someone else, who spoke even more quietly. She carried out the canx., gave me a reference no., and when I next checked, was NIL outstanding and channels had finally disappeared, apart from the few free ones they leave behind - 100, 243 and two others.

I got a call from the call centre this morning, surprisingly, but my call blocker must've blocked them !

Checked they hadn't reinstated my service, behind my back, because it was likely "Retentions" ?

Been nice knowing Fanie and the Gang, but moving on, and crucially, never again / never to return.

Feeling relieved.
