Above poll is anonymous.
It is multiple-choice, but limited to 3 choices each.

You can edit your vote.

In January I will be passing on a link to someone senior in public relations at MultiChoice (MC). Maybe we can make a small difference.

(No new choice options can be added, 10 was the maximum.)

I think if people were able to choose their own channels, Monochoice would see a nice increase in viewership.
Exactly !!!! They should go back 30 years ago and pretend they only have 1 channel to offer like MNet was back in the day.
Now each user adds any and all other channels as they see fit
It's like making a meal at Roccomamas
In the end, you still pay lots but you are happy coz you made the choices

RocoMamas Menu, Menu for RocoMamas, Goodwood, Cape Town

a simple sport only bouqet thats not crazy pricey and he will keep lots of customers

i only watch sport and the food channel and lities watch cartoon channels

thats it
The problem is that the sport content is the most expensive of all. A sport-only package will probably be R600-R700.

Yes if you were to select ALL the sport packages, but it wont be that expensive if someone only took 1 or 2 channels

The model has been tried in some countries and without much success. Many channels that several people enjoy will then no longer be available if not enough people subscribe to them while some premium channels that are currently cross-subsidised will be way too expensive. Unfortunately premium channels as well as satellite technology is not cheap and as long as satellite is their main footprint they will remain expensive.

If you add up Disney+ and Discovery and HBO+ and Brit Box and 2 or 3 other you are paying DSTV Premium prices for much fewer channels and not even any sport or genres like lifestyle, kids and nature yet.

True - but many niche sports with fewer followers will then not be available or viable at all.

i for one would ONLY choose the F1 channel
In an ideal world it would be nice to choose only the channels you want
I am sure after 30 plus years DSTV now needs to make this happen, as the viewerships in future will just keep falling

@Brian_G this is a serious question: is DStv interested in the type of person on mbBB? I don't think so simply because of their cancelling more and more channels like BBC and introducing more of the Wendy Williams, GoggleBox type show.

And good for them, if there's a big market for that type of **** that's what they'll cater for. Those who don't like it will stream and download elsewhere.

They know exactly what people want and are bending over backwards to NOT give it to them.

Some are still hanging around for a sports only package, others have walked away and will never go back.

You can subscribe to F1 TV online for $45 a year.

Exactly, now if Multichoice can adopt a fair pricing like this for sports channels and work around it they will soon see they can offer the customers to choose their own channels
DSTV has a choice, take my $45 a year for F1 only and nothing else, or you can have zero rands from me and i will continue my subscription overseas paying $45 a year.

Agreed @maumau , and they're certainly good at business practices even if that means some like us lose out more now.

But, doesn't mean they won't listen. Some of us here used to belong to their forum (currently closed, for "enhancements" but that's taking forever) , we know we can make them sit up a bit.

I think it's more about demographics, which have changed regarding who's interested in subscribing now.

Some of their recent changes - movies add-on and separate soccer on Showmax Pro - suggest they may finally be moving in the right direction. But they still need a big push.
