Decision - Buying a SUV under R300k

Hi guys,

So I'm looking to get my wife a SUV for 300k or under.

2018 and above, fuel efficiency is important. Possibly 30 000km and below.

I have been looking at the Opel Grandland X, Nissan Qashqai, Mazda CX5, Haval H2...but fuel efficiency at 9.0l per 100km seems alot.
Then again i drive a 5.0l per 100km car which does about 9 or 10l anyway so wanted to get some real world advice.

There's so many options and choices. For the guys that do have a SUV, please give me some advice on fuel efficiency, best specs and the drive etc.

I think OP is looking for bigger vehicles. Ecosport's boot is tiny.

The Opel Grandland X enjoy is R 294k for 2018 with 28 000km so the price and need is about right...
Just the choice...

The choices will be very limited with your parameters, but first to mind was the Kadjar 1.2T and not on your list.

Loud Diesel noises?

SUV not in diesel? Sense... makes none.
You want the brute power of a Diesel over a Petrol in an SUV tbh. Also because of the fuel efficiency. Petrol in a 2+ton vehicles... ouch.

You are trying to compare decent SUVs to an Opel... I think my input here will not help you the least bit.

If you can find a CX5 within those specs, that would be my choice, followed by the Nissan.

Also, have you test-driven any of the new diesels? You'd be surprised just how quiet and refined some of them are nowadays.

Auto Diesel, doubt I'll ever buy anything else tbh. Especially since I get my diesel at 14,73 (50ppm)

you will struggle to get a medium size SUV with those requirements unless you get really lucky or go left field

2017 Toyota Fortuner 2.4 Diesel - Auto
Easily get between 10 to 11km per liter as a daily driver.
On a long disptance trip loaded i have done 12 to 13km per liter.
