Defective Solar System Installation

My bad, yes I flipped it around.

But I've always had tiny amount grid export every month since I first got my system installed. But like 300 watts a month.
That is odd

Yeah, same here, always a smidge of feed in but so small as to be irrelevant.
Tsk no wonder City Power wants to put in post paid meters, you feeding back...

Sounds like he needs another geyser in series set to 70c.

People who rent solar are clueless about these things otherwise they would never rent in the first place because thats a stupid thing to do. Probably uses all the power at night and solar sits idle all day after the battery is charged by 9am. Its easy to not export to the grid with a setting.

This. I don't think OP came here for technical advice. They are looking for reassurance and legal advice.

From the AI slop, my understanding is that the company advertised X amount of savings, he rented the system based on that but did not see any of the advertised savings because the system they sold was underspecced.

dude uses over 800KWh a month and went with a 5KW inverter - bro took an Uber at Le Mans and wondering why he getting lapped

Still would theoretically get about 30% out of it

I read through the thread so I'm sorry you going to repeat yourself
Inverter shows you used 800 odd KWH but your electricity bill also shows higher then this

My guesses are
- CT clamp located right next to the inverter and not close to the main line its not going to pick up the actual load of the house
- You some how installed the inverter after the meter so all usage is showing on the meter
- you are feeding back to the grid and your meter is not running backwards but forwards so you paying for what is being fed back
- you not checking the correct dates of the meter reading compared to inverter as inverter is exactly the month but your bill is read on different days.

All comments and inputs noted and appreciated.
Also thanks for bearing with me.
The System - it served the purpose mostly during loadsheding, and continues to do so whenever there's any power failure. Again the size has never been the issue. Even if say my total "real" usage is say, 1,000 - I would still not complain as long as this is adequately reflected in terms of solar Vs grid. As mentioned, the issue is that it seems everything is treated as grid usage from the municipality side (as demonstrated by the misalignment between the plant report Vs bill. That's the issue and NOT the size of the solar. Can I not have to explain this again!
The Service provider also reviewed all my 2025 monthly bills (they requested this) and can't explain why the material misalignment.

For whatever reasons explained numerous times - it seems that my full "Monthly Consumption" is being treated as grid only by the municipality (impact meters/ electricity bill) - whereas the Service provider says an average of 43% (full 2025) is grid. This is the contention! Not the size of the system!

The Service provider has offered 4 months reimbursement.

My ask was - based on the above, what would be a reasonable proportionate reimbursement for this (after all the Service provider conceded that their system was not installed properly in the first place).

Not the technical side - though I still appreciate all the inputs and insights shared (otherwise the Service provider is responsible for that - 24/7 maintenance, whenever there's any issues).

Someone here advised that I consider a 6 month reimbursement.

I am considering a termination (without a penalty) plus some reimbursement.

Great summary!
Billing cycle - correct, bill alternates around 6-8 monthly (6-5/ 7-6/ or 8-7 - hope that makes sense).
Solar app can be configured but not the best - however it gives you a good sense to make an informed decision.

CT Clamp and installing inverter after meter etc - that's standard technical stuff the Service provider should have dealt with. It seems this may not have been adequately addressed during first installation.
