Degrading Telkom LTE Uncapped speeds

Thanks I will give your suggestion a try.

So sent her an email yesterday morning and got a delivery and read receipt back but no reply. Seems like another Telkom employee who does give a %^$ about their customers.....

Having same problems as you guys. During the day works very well from about 6pm speed drops to like 4 or 5 mb from 26mb but the problem is the ping it's like over 400 ms at night pretty much like using a modem dial up. Pretty useless and very frustrating coz that's the only time I use it. Anyone manage to get it sorted. I've reported it a couple time and have heard nothing from them. I'm starting to pull my hair out now. Telkom please help.

Same here for me in Toti

Had LTE for about 6 months but just the last week or so the connection has really deteriorated.
Fine in the day and wee hours of the morning, but in the evening it degrades to almost unusable.

Im on the 100+100 capped package.
Yesterday for instance I could not even get netflix, red bull tv or showmax to run, they struggled to even login.
I have 5 bar signal, can see the tower and have external antenna for good measure.

Really poor.

I've had poor peak time performance. So I PM'd the Telkom rep on here. Eventually someone called me to come out to my place. I wasn't there, but apparently they didn't do much, just did a speed test on one of their devices or something (not even during my peak time, so I don't know how that would help). Anyway, I got a reference number out of that, not much else.

A few weeks later, nothing had changed, so I PM'd the Telkom rep again with my reference number, only to get another call from a tech from Telkom to set up a time they can come to my place again. This time I think they maybe moved the antenna a bit or something, because stats on my router are slightly better, but I don't think peak time performance changed at all.

So now I have resorted to contacting Jacqui O'Sullivan, as suggested on one of the threads - let's see what comes out of that, holding thumbs

Every mother #$%^&@# night after 1900,, LTE 100+100

Yo
Also in the durban south here. Been noticing the speeds being atrocious at night. From midnight it goes back to normal. Really annoying

Hey, I have the same issue in Toti also.
Nothing beats having a 40Mbps connection during the day when i don't need it.

I have Had my uncapped deal for about a month now too and here in Port Elizabeth (where I am less than 500m from the tower with absolutely no visual obstructions) and I get +- 40 during the day then it drops to between 2 and 5 down and up. I posted this on their facebook page and within 2 days a call centre operative contacted me and set up an appointment for a technician to come out and see if there is a problem with the router ( doubt it). I think there is congestion on the backhaul to the IPC in Durban.

Ask the Telkom techie WHAT ELSE is running on the backhaul
I wonder IF he will have the info ?
or
Will be allowed to give it to you ?
or
IF any of the Telkom dudes lurking here will divulge that info

Everywhere information wants to be free
but
NOT IN SA !

So was just about to Sigh up, is it good deal and when you finish your 50gb are all other downloads expect torrents throttled.

Read thread.
50gb only torrent throttled

Edit rest of internet streaming full speed still

Tested kindly by cavedog.

Once you reach your 50GB torrent cap, torrents come to a grinding halt.

EVERYTHING else still flies until the first of the following month when torrents join full speed again.

That aside, this is what you get when you trust telkom.

At 6:40 after repowering modem cant do actual.speedtest and then next minute 56mbps! Crazy inconsistent product.

That is the downside of GSM based internet - it can flucuate hectically because of congestion. Handful of heavy users temporarily join the tower and speeds will plummet.

My tower, so far, has been pretty consistent though. Just short of 60mb/s this morning at the office. Hardly ever under 30mb/s during the week. http://www.speedtest.net/result/5324147031.png
