Degrading Telkom LTE Uncapped speeds

Its like we all experience issues at the same time its been good the last three days, will see how this continues!
 
I spoke to one of my friends yesterday, the technician was out his side Lynnwood/hatfield area and they said they are upgrading the towers in the next two weeks... hopefully this will be good news.
 
I see less and less people complaining about the LTE speeds over the last few days.

Has everyone's speeds returned to normal? Or you guys just tired of complaining here? lol

I have received a call this morning, after weeks of struggling to get a Telkom technician to come out and install my antenna. The tech installing tomorrow at 11am :)

I have the same feeling, mine continues to be great. Speeds were good and latency was 15ms - 45ms (peak) so nothing to complain about my side.

Tired of complaining to be honest. My speeds are better, I get average of about 15mbps which is way way way below that of what it used to be. But at least i can use it now.

It could be that your connection is 'bursty' (apologies, can't think of a better term) which as you're no doubt aware, will give great Speed Test results but the speed is not consistent enough for streaming HD. This was exactly the sitaution that resulted in me trying to connect to a different tower a week or two ago. Although my speed was lower on the new tower, it was at least a far more reliable connection for streaming.

What are you streaming on Kodi? Most of Kodi's apps are using a torrent method to stream the stuff. Telkom=Torrents suck. I have 80 Mbps down but cant stream anything from kodi.....Netflix no issues

Huh:erm:, Source please, would love to read more about this.

Kodi does have ad-dons you can install which can stream torrents, but this is definitely not the case with most services we make use of.

I simply gave up.

While there have been improvements they are superficial at best, the service is still extremely erratic and unreliable.
I gave up trying to game. While the pings 'seem' to have normalized, the connection to the server for some reason lags, resulting in planes spawning upside down and damaged before you even try and compete.

Overall the service is a shadow of what it was when I signed up.
 
My LTE tower I connect to 8555520 is down. No 1800MHz or 2300MHz at all. It's connecting to a 2300MHz tower in another suburb which is very far poor stats. Forced to 1800MHz it connects to a tower not too far but the antenna is pointed in the opposite to that tower so stats are better but speeds are poor!

Back to ADSL or I need to use maybe bunny antennas to see if it works better until the tower is back up.

Yeah never been down long before but wen down last night will see how long it takes to come back online. I guess all the other people are also auto connecting to the 1800MHz towers not on the map because they are slow as hell.
 
How do you report a tower outage to Telkom? 180 I'm done with them. They don't know the difference between a rock and a ethernet cable......

My main tower in Brackenfell North also went down 3am this morning from what i am seeing..internet crawling at 0.20 Down and 0.06 up

Yeah me too. Speedtest.net just times out. I'm bouncing between 2 1800MHz towers and 1 2300MHz tower and their signal is so bad actually 3G is better but not working on the uncapped simcard....

I'm sure the towers are like Telkom adsl exchanges they know instantly if the tower goes offline. I certainly hope so because 180 is useless.

Last time my tower went down it took 8 days to come back on line. I reported it an hour after it went down and everyday thereafter, twice a day, for 7 days. At the 4 day mark I caved and reported it to someone in top management at Telkom.

On average though it isn't down for longer than 48 hours.

Still down for me. :( Stuck with my 20Mbps VDSL connection and it feels slow compared to my 87Mbps LTE connection :erm:
 
Tower is back online...... 2 and half days downtime. Not as fast but think it's just because everyone is going crazy on the tower because it was down....
