hello everyone. i deleted the wrong partition by accident is it possible to recover data if i take my hard drive to specialists?. unfortunately i formatted the drive in disk management. is the files gone or are they still safe?. i was trying to re install windows on my 1tb hard drive and i deleted the wrong drive. i really regret what i did it was not my intention to delete the drive.

The files are there, just dont do anything further with the drive.. any writing to the drive can result in potentially overwriting the files then they are gone..

You can recover yourself, many apps available.. don't have time to get a reputable list together now..

If you just deleted the wrong partition the data is still there. You can do a partition recovery there's ample free software available. There's also places who specialise in data recovery, simple recoveries like this usually start at about R1600

so the files are not gone?
think of it like a big book, all that got deleted is the index telling you where the files are, that's all, the data itself is still there, unless you did a low level format that wipes out the drive

Format after the partition was deleted?
Did you install windows on the partition?

Bottom line is this: If you did anything else to the drive after deleting the partition, then getting files back becomes much harder.

probably not unless you chose low level format, and that takes hours to process. You just need to find a recovery utility on the internet to Unformat / Unerase your partition

i remember a undelete tool one of the pc format mags many years ago. 2008 2009 or 2007

i did not install windows on the 500 gb "which is the deleted partition" i re installed windows 10 on the other drive C:/ drive 1 TB

So you install windows on the new drive and not the accident drive?
If so, remove the accident partition drive and don't let windows run on it for too long, its sometimes does optimization and write temp files.
Research a bit and then attempt a software tool.

If it was a normal quick format and you did not write and data to the formatted partition the data should still be there. ALWAYS recover to a different drive/partition, never to the same one you are recovering from.

If attempting to recover the data yourself ALWAYS restore the data onto another drive or you could overwrite data.

Recuva or Testdisk will be able to get it back so long as you do no further fiddling and you have another drive to restore to.

DO NOT RESTORE TO THE SAME DRIVE.
