i have 3 rewriteable discs full of stuff and want to sort out the pictures to one disc and music and videos to another so i can keep a backup of my stuff. how do i delete the read only files are should i just delete the whole disc in nero once i have copied everything to my harddrive.

Copy all the files over to your harddrive, place it in a new folder:
Right click on the folder and click properties, remove the tick from "read only" and click apply, then ok.
All the file attributes will be changed to "not" be read only. Then you can delete that which you would like and erase the disc should you need to.
