Dell BIOS update bricked my laptop. HELP PLEASE?

Just a quick check, when booting press ESC to get to boot prompts.

You should get a screen which says select boot device.

Can you boot from your SSD there?

I am not sure if the esc button works with the dell. I get no options. If I press either F2 or F12 it takes me to two different boot menus but no devices listed. When I made the bootable usb I get to a cmd screen where it asks me to select boot device. I tried the ssd there but then it says no bootable device found. If I select the usb it boots up

Hi,I had that exact same problem on DELL XPS Win 10 recently, and after switching it off, reboot, repeated 3x times, it took misteriously, did some misterious repair, and was up and running again. I then did a troubleshoot on Windows 10 update from settings, it fixed a problem, and it still works no problem today.

I dunno what these guys are doing with the updates Microsoft and Dell. Tried a couple of reboot loops but nothing changes

you updated your bios from a legitimate source .The entire flashing process was 100 percent correct.SO next step reset everything.What i said works cause i repair those tihngs.

What do you think happened in my case....Switch Off-Switch on-Fail, Switch Off-Switch on-Fail, Switch Off-Switch on-Fail, Switch Off-Switch on-.... repair & load-Ok.

Your SSD might have a "corruption" with the boot sector.

Boot from it and check for the repair option

I would try to install windows on the ssd from a different source and then swop it out again and see if it boots.If not swop out drive and try different drive to test

In that case I will try it tonight when I get home. It was updated with dell support assist and nothing failed so yes have nothing to lose by trying. I have to add I also reset the BIOS settings to default and factory with no change. Also if you hold the esc and ctrl while disconnected from AC power and adding AC back in it should also reset NVRAM according to dell but does not work. The power light just flashes orange and white a couple of times

Yeah just to test, cause if he can select the SSD and still the same error, I'm thinking MBR corrupt. But that is not caused by Firmware update.
I'm stuck at the Boot issue being drive type but OP already tried changing it

That is my thoughts too. I tried the check and repair from bootable USB with Aomei (same as chkdsk c: /f /r / x) and it says there is faults but doesn't repair. Also did a rebuild of the MBR but no change

In the BIOS look for uefi or legacy, flip it to the opposite.

You don't need rufus, you just need a working W10 machine.
If it was still the original device: Start > Create recovery drive.
But since it's for a different machine, you probably want to do it via the installation media tool: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10
