Hi all. This is a client's notebook that is experiencing very strange problems. The auto-updates are set to off (also tried prompt-before-update). It is running Windows Vista Home Basic (no service pack).

The notebook randomly turns itself on and off. Not as in a halt, or something, but a full on shutdown, startup, update, shutdown, etc... This is an issue, because the client is using the built-in 3G and the cap is quickly disappearing.

I say it's updates, but I'm not sure. Initially, she described the problem to me, and I talked her through turning automatic updates off, etc. But the problem has persisted. I haven't been able to witness the problem first-hand, though.

Any ideas?

Have the client install something like NetLimiter 2 Monitor, it'll be able to tell her exactly how much was used by which process.
