Dell's open source Streak tablet plans

Wow, I think they're the first Android manufacturer to do so. Good job. Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Samsung, HTC ... none of them would do this I think.

Not true. Samsung and HTC released their source code and the others probably have as well. If they use Android they have to.

uhm They HAVE to release their source. Its part of the GPL.

I never found a time period in the gpl , but iam pretty sure they mean at the same time. if they have it compiled , they must have the source , iam pretty sure it was just lazyness or they completley forgot, i dont see why it turned into a story , all it takes is a simple request or reminder

Not exactly true. I know HTC are very selective when it comes to releasing source code. They've yet to release the latest kernel source code for the Desire, and possibly other phone models as well (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=781850 ). I don't follow Samsung phones, so I can't comment on that.

Again, not if it's HTC. They've been ignoring requests for the Desire code for a while now.
