Design a wireless network

The boomed village I live in has 207 houses over a 300m² area. Quite a few of us are interested in a wireless network in the village. We've been going around in circles to try and get something going.

What I'd ideally like:
  • CTWUG Access
  • Houses being able to use the Nano Loco (cheap at ~R500)

Is it possible?
 
RB433ah with three R52 radios in the centre with 3x 120 degree 2.4ghz sectors giving 360 degrees of coverage
Or use a RB600 (4 radio slots) then you can put up a backbone grid to a CTWUG site as well

The village would also preferably be 2.4Ghz to allow easy access for laptops and mobile phones.

Also If link to WUG is down for whatever reason the Village network should carry on working
 
Curadden ctwug has a highsite about 2km away from sunningdale, so that should work for a link into the wug. Just remember we do not do internet! You gonna need a highsite for your clients to connect to, so what protzkrog suggested.
 
If I use the a single backbone link to CTWUG - would all clients have access to the wug as well? Our discussions were along the lines of having a few ctwug connections to try and ease the connection.

Absolutely, we are not interested in internet access. Thoughts on the number of backbone links to CTWUG, and the sharing of those connections?

As long as your own highsite within the village is operational the network will cary on working. I would also suggest 2.4 for ease of access, although some will say there is allot of noise. 5.8 is currently being poluted with noise just as much as 2.4

Remeber that you need to connect to a backbone grid on CTWUG site to have a proper backbone, so there needs to be physical space on the tower/mast as well as space in the routerboard another radio.

I'd say start with one link and then expand it later on as needed and as possible

CTWUG will say give you range withing our 172.18.0.0/16 range you can dish out to all your users.
 
OK cool. Thats brilliant. Now I'm off to mobilise the forces to contribute to the R6k :)
 
If a central point is not feasable, would erecting at the entrance to complex, with 'overlapping sectors' making 180 degrees me possible and still allow good user speeds
 
ja, as long as you backbone the two boards, small grid or panel at each side with a dedicated radio
 
We could put the same setup at the entrance - but swap the three 120s for two 90s which will cover the area.
