Desire S

What custom ICS/JB ROMs have you guys used that are fully working (Camera and everything else) and smooth ? Desire XS is amazing and works completely.

Although, I am 1 in like 150 people to experience "the camera bug" and I'm curious to know why I get it. I still use the ROM even with the bug because its that good.

I loaded Viper on my wife's, very happy with it. Will have a look at XS.
 
Hi guys.

Does anyone know if RUU_SAGA_ICS_35_S_HTC_EU_14.01.401.2_20.76.30.0835_3831.19.00.110_275068 is compatible with the Desire S in South Africa ?

The link is here if anyone wants to find RUUs. Apparently, they're scarce at the moment.

Yes that looks like the latest one. But I would not load it if I were you. Once upgraded to this you wont be able to load custom ROMs without having to unlock via htcdev.com = warranty officially void. Couple that with the fact that this ROM has bugs means that if you load it you are screwed.

IF you are still on Gingerbread you can unlock without having to go via htcdev this means that HTC wont know about it...

I'm already unlocked with HTC Dev. This is a long work around trying to install a new radio. I'm Unlocked, S-On Hboot 2.00.002(Which is why I had to HTC Dev unlock, Revolutionary does not support this Hboot)

What bugs do you speak of ?

which one is safe to flash ? I'm under the impression that its area specific and theres no SA ones at that link.

EDIT: Safe to flash (and this is a stretch) a radio thats newer than 10.08.04(its what I'm currently on)

Ok so I had to help someone that was already on the latest ICS RUU, to load a custom ROM...

Word of advice, don't load the latest ICS from HTC, once you do that you can not load a custom ROM without letting HTC know about it (htcdev = warranty void).

For those who want to S-off to load ROMs via custom recovery (without having to flash boot img every time).

Here is a short how to:

Some of these steps are quite vague.
Some notes:
-I used the recovery.img in 4EXT_Recovery_v2.2.7_RC5 (search and download)

-At the Downgrade step reboot in to fastboot and run a very old RUU.
I used this version RUU: RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.1_Radio_20.28b.30.0805U_38.03.02.11_M_release_177977_signed.exe (search and download)

Once you loaded the old ROM your Hboot version will be 0.98.0000, head over to http://revolutionary.io Download run and generate a serial then use the site to generate a key. (phone also needs to be in fast boot here from what I remember). Insert key at prompt. When prompted to install CWM, do so (requires internet connection on PC).

Congrats you are now S-off and and custom recovery is installed. Feel free to download custom ROM zip file e.g ViperSAGA -> copy to sd card -> reboot into recovery and install from zip. (always good idea to nand backup first).
