Desktop vs Laptop

Ok, i'm at the stage where I'm not sure where I gonna go!

I have a choice to build up a brand spanking new desktop worth about R8k-R10
or buy a lappy worth about the same.

Reason being, I want something a lil more portable, but so far, a lappy is pretty expensive for the price bracket i'm in.

I can't decide. I mean, I'm into my gaming and I wanna play games like crysis etc, since my current rig (x1600 pro, amd 3200+) doesn't quite cut it.

So, clearly a desktop is far more powerful, but the lappy is more portable, and so now where do I stand...

you wanna game dont buy a laptop

no laptop i know of will run crysis, i have heard of laptops exploding when crysis loads up

i doubt your lappy will eat my 9800gx2, q6600 @ 3.6ghz and raptor raid but anyways we leave that for another day

damn nice laptop though, ok i dont know of a laptop under 10k that will run crysis

I sincerely doubt that, no offense. It's just that I have a rough idea of his desktop's specifications

i suppose though if your on the road alot and have the money it would be awesome

not awesome if your buying that lappy instead of a desktop

i travel a lot and there is nofin like playing lan when chilling on a plane or wherever you are .for under 10 you will struggle to get a decent gaming laptop .It might play games like tiberian or cs on the lowest res but def not crysis

I would have to agree with the ouks that your best bet is a Desktop .

I picked up my Q6600 for R4500... excl monitor & gfx tho...
9600gt goes for about R1500
8800gt for about R2000
Can get a LG 19" wide screen for R1500...

4 Gigs DDR2 800 Ram

well, I got a 19 inch monitor, BUT

I was thinking of getting a whole new pc, eg: Hdd, case, mobo, cpu, gpu, ram.

well for 8k you could get

q6600, could get an e8400 for 200 bucks less
p35 mobo as recommended above
4 gig memory
500 gig hdd
aerocool zero degree or extreme 3t
4850

then maybe save for a new monitor
