Deus Ex

Have read some good reviews on this game, so to all of you that have played/are busy playing this.....
is it really as good as advertised?

I beat the first boss without it.

I didn't turn any augments on the whole first mission :p only did so afterwards.

Pitbull, buy it, you won't regret it.....your wife and kid might though.

Nearing the end I think, and still struggling with my character/morality. Love the decisions I have to make as a character AND as a player. Awesome awesome game.

And nothing says pwnage like a shoulder fired grenade launcher. :D

Thanx Kos, my missus is quite picky on PC games, if it aint PopCap, chances are she won't play it.
The little one must first learn to use a mouse and not drool all over it :)

I meant more that it would take you away from them lol :D

Has anyone else noticed the funnies with the steam acheivements? I've done 25/49 yet I only have eight left available? Also for some reason, I don't have the first mission acheivement "Unforseen Consequences".

And damn, some of these fights are HARD!

Unforeseen Consequence
You convinced Zeke Sanders to let his hostage go

You only get chievs for doing quests a certain way. A bit silly but could be worse.

I have 48/49 chievs... Apparently at SOME point an alarm went off but I never noticed

And yeah, also noticed that some chievs are "hidden" (not listed) but if you click on "view global achievements" you can see them all.

Ahhh, I shot the bastard, didn't talk him out of it.

That would be why then :p

Yeah, I kind of which they had an achievement for every option, would've added more to the replayability and been a good incentive to play a different persona.

I read it's impossible to get all the augments? To those who finished the game , is that true? A lot of mine are maxed now but some I haven't bothered with ( parachute thing, see through walls etc)

Not impossible, just pretty unlikely.

Most of the augments are basically pointless (gimmicky) and a waste of Praxis but you're pretty much guaranteed to have all the important ones with some of the more pointless.

Just finished the game, average difficulty, aggressive style and burning through, not stopping to help side quests givers. That still took 24 hours of gametime, so I'm impressed.
No spoilers, but now I'm going to take a break, make some coffee and go back and do the hardest difficulty, stealth style playthrough. I'll do the whole completionist thing :)

Awesome game.
Definitely agree that some of the augments are gimmicky, but goodness, I love some of them!!

I was so amped for this game, I decided to play it on hardest from the beginning, as I did not want to rush through too quickly. Also doing as many of the side quests as I can.

Which are the best augmentation upgrades would you guys say? I just stated and got the stealth upgrade.

To be honest, my play style felt the stealth upgrade was a waste of time, I did the hacking ones, typhoon, strength and battery, also cloaking. Oh and the social one.

Be careful to read the followup upgrades, as some don't do what you think. For example, the leg one gives more benefits to moving silently than the stealth one, that is more about the awareness of others than actually being stealthy.

Started on hardest difficulty (Has to be done) and went pure stealth (Sorta has to be done when you die in 1/2 shots).

I've reloaded over 9000 times during boss fights, man they are hard. When all you have are stealth augs and you have to fight someone in a tiny room you're kinda screwed. 10mm pistol doesn't really get the job done.

Awesome game though, definitely has the spirit of the first game and looks good to boot.
