DG834GT speed issue ... help!

Glad to see i'm not the only one having this problem. It makes sense that the card at the exchange could be faulty.

I'm in halfway gardens.
 
this purely sounds like back in the days when 4096 had been initially on testing phase ....you could sync to 4meg but not use more than 1meg

so its port side(dslam) configuration problem!
 
Yeah, i've had 2 technicians fiddle around at the exchange, and none of them could solve the problem.

I had exactly the same problem on upgrading from 384k to 4M. The modem resynced whilst on the phone to 10219 but only got the equivalent speed of a 512k line. Phoned the next day to confirm that upgrade had been processed and was put through to a technician who told me to switch my router off and he made me keep it off for 10-15min. When I powered up I had the full 4M.

Don't know if he changed any configuration on his side during that time but somehow the DSLAM was restricting me although the line was syncing at 4M. Maybe all it need was for the port to go inactive.
 
I just tried it. Unplugged the adsl for 20 minutes and what do you know.

Your current bandwidth reading is:

2.86 Mbps

which means you can download at 365.89 KB/sec. from our servers.

Sorry to hear that. When did you log your problem. Since I logged my call yesterday I've already had 2 calls from telkom "helpdesk" and 1 from the tech. I told the tech how I fixed it, but he didn't really care ... was just happy to close the call.

some people are expecting to get full 4mb line even if there far from exchange

I logged my first call about 2 weeks ago. A tech called me within a few days, saying he was going to do something at the exchange. That was the last i heard from him, and he cleared the fault. So I had to re-report it. A week after that, got another call from a tech, telling me he was also going to fix it at the exchange. Haven't heard a thing since that.

Matrixweb: i USED to get 4meg speeds with absolutely no issues whatsoever. Now i'm limited to 512 speeds for no reason, while i'm still paying for my "1meg" line.
 
Line speed still going strong, but I have run into another problem. There seems to be something wrong with the bandwidth usage. It's depleting much faster than it used to?
 
Ok, so they've cleared my fault AGAIN!!!! I'm actually so mad i don't even know what to do. They've told me that my line needed to be downgraded to 1024, so they went ahead and did that. So now my router syncs at 1024, but my download speeds are still 52kB/s.

Now i need to rereport the F^%&$ fault and go through the same process!!!!!!!
 
Have the same modem DG834GT and can download at full line speed 240kB/s and my line attenuation is pretty bad but I have no connection problems.
