Diablo 3 latency

Anything between 300 and 500 is playable. Problems arise though when "events" occur and there is sudden lag spikes. Caused all my deaths thus far on my Barbarian (jump to live only to find myself back in the fire 2 seconds later, then suddenly dead in another position again). The problem actually is that there is no offline mode for days when this happens, or for those who do not care about multiplayer or "paying to win"

Anyone else getting lag tonight using Mweb?

I am sitting on 1000 - 2000ms and it jumps up and down.

When the servers get busy(peak times) the latency spikes. try in the morning I get 250ms
try again in the evening anything between 350ms and 500ms
Sometimes it spikes too more than 1000ms peak times
tried on IS, MWEB, FNB same resault, a friend gets spikes on his line exactly the same time as me (co op play)
So all I can think of is the Diablo servers get congested or something

Yip i have now tried a Telkom and Mweb account both with 800+ ms and unplayable, and from when does FNB have their own ISP? :P

I'm getting the same lag spikes at night making the game unplayable. In the mornings and late at night things are fine. The thing that really puzzles me is that friends (also in Cape Town) of mine are not experiencing the same lag spikes even when we are in the same game. I am sure it is not my connection because I have tested it on several other games and I have consistent 200ms latency.

so many winers ? ...... this is a new game , wth did you expect ? a perfect black soulstone ?

I think there may have been looming issues last night.... Was playing with a guy in CT and Durbs and all 3 of us had similar problems....

They day before yesterday it was at 200ms and last night it was at 400ms for me.

I assume the servers are located in US and not in EU?

There's servers in Asia, EU and the US.

Depends what region you select.

If you were getting 200ms you're on the EU servers as there's no way you'll ever see 200ms to the US from here.

Mweb 4Mb Uncapped : Been running between 250-350 ms since launch (times when i can log on at least), so guess im one of the lucky ones. Even had downloads on most of the time, and still fine.

sheesh I cant believe that people are still whining about the latency, get a decent ISP and just sit tight till things smooth out

its just the load thats increasing the latency. Play during the day while everyone is at school/studies/work and its like 200ms

Okay, I know in the other thread I said I was going to stop as people were getting annoyed... but that was because, I suppose, that wasn't really the right thread to be discussing that. However, in a thread discussing diablo 3 latency, where people are talking about their problems and trying to get it fix so that they can play the game that they bought you are saying that they should just shut up about it as it is their fault (or their choice in ISP) and that they should rather regulate when they play instead of trying to find a solution.

It completely baffles my mind that people have this attitude, when someone buys a car and it can't drive from A to B of course they are going to complain, and they have a right to. You don't say to them "That road is a bit ruff, only drive on newly paved roads." or "Shut up, enough with your whining about your car not performing, why don't you ride a bike". I am using these analogies as it is clearly lost on you on the ridiculousness of your complaints about people complaining that their game not working. If you not happy with that analogy I can use others... a music cd perhaps? A cell phone or even a prostitute.

If you are fortunate enough to have it working 100% (or don't care that it isn't) without any problems then good for you, but let the people with problems express their justified frustration as they try fix it.

P.S This isn't purely directed at you as you aren't the only one saying these sorts of things.

Not everyone sit's at home everyday to play while ppl are at work/school/studies :( Some of us has to go to work/school/studies.I think most people play at night thats probably the problem:(
But yea whining about it will probably not help, but it does make me feel better:D

I posted this in the ADSL ISP Thread, seems just as valid here:

I'm not sure where the problem lies. But I used to play wow, and when Mweb fixed their shaping policies about 2 years ago to allow for gaming to have a higher priority, I started getting 160ms to the EU servers instead of the usual 300+ ms.

With Diablo3, I am currently getting between 300 - 500ms on a constant basis. And recently I have been experiencing very bad lag in D3.

Even though this might be a Blizzard issue with their servers, would it be possible to at least entertain the idea of making sure the mweb shaping policies include the D3 server IP's? So that all is setup correctly on our/SA's side?

Mweb really are on the ball when it comes to sorting out ports and shaping. I'd put money on the fact that this is entirely Blizzards problem.

Just chatted to my son and he has no complaints thusfar.

300ms average on Webafrica (4meg uncapped) with the odd spike to 500ms in the evenings.

So guess the family will miss me for a week or two when I get home in two weeks time. :D
