Diablo 3 Monk Help

Just use a website to check your EHP with each one active. d3rawr.com is nice.

My monk:

240k+ DPS
2.4 APS
56% CC
452% CHD
44% Dodge
507 RA
45k+ life
5% Lifesteal
650 LPS
4500 Armour
+25% MS

240k + is surely not unbuffed DPS :o

Could you post a link to your profile please?

I get 1 million EHP according to the website is that good?

Yeah, will fill the role of a tank very nicely! Although Barbs being str will always outclass us in that department. I play solo most of the time as the + to crit from the scoundrel, and the fact that the mobs have such low hp when youre solo, that you dont need more EHP, thats when DPS comes into play. THe faster you melt them, the less time they have to deal damage.

Ofcourse you can sit there with 3 other players and tank a mob for ages, but loot drops much slower that way.

Thanks I also usually solo here also since I hate public games

Probably if you go the defense build I made it will be easier and you need to upgrade a few pieces of armor for resist and weapons (Main Hand needs more dps and Offhand needs more crit damage)

Skills - Rune
Way of Hundred Fists - Blazing Fists
Blinding Flash - Faith In The Light
Breath Of Heaven - Blazing Wrath
Serenity - Peaceful Repose
Mantra Of Evasion - Backlash
Mystic Ally - Air Ally

Passives
Combination Strike
The Guardian's Path
Transcedence

I tried that build and it does not do as well as my normal build in MP3.

I think I just need to up my DPS to around 90k unbuffed and I will be fine, then I can start looking at upgrading my AR and armour.

Maybe its the way you play since I do well with it

Could very well be. That and the fact that your AR enables you to use a different passive skill.

Also it was not terrible :p It was just felt a tad slower and more "trapped" compared to my normal build. I am however using the Air mystic ally now :D

You are a lot more tanky than me and I think that I can not go toe to toe as much as you can.

Haha, ok.

When I change the passive skill from +50% of Dex as armour to +15% dodge chance while dual wielding, my dmg reduction drops from 59% to 52% and my dodge chance goes up from 42% to 50.5%....

1) Which is better.
2) Why does my dodge chance not go up with 15% but only with +- 8%?

Do not go for more dodge. Its the worst defensive stat. Not only is it random, but no ground effects can be dodged (molten, arcane, etc). Sure it works for physical attacks, esp in close quarters, but armour and res are so much more effective (and they enhance your healing indirectly).
As for why it doesnt increase by 15% - thats because dodge is not additive. If you have 60% dodge, and dodge a further 20% you will dodge 20% of the ones you are not already dodging, ie 20% of the remaining 40% which is 8%. Making the end result 68% dodge

Ah:) Yes I have taken dropped the passive skill that gives +100 spirit and added the one that gives 50% of your dex as armour bonus.

Ps on game mechanics, if I use the passive that decreases the dmg from foes hit for 2.5 secs by 20%, does that go for the ground effects they cast as well such as molten, arcane etc etc?

Dont think it would decrease aoe damage only resist does

Dodge will eventually be fixed to work on everything and it does work on Arcane from what I have seen, since I have avoided Arcane damage sometimes, but doesnt work on fire/poison.

Not only works on physical but dodges ranged spells too and dodge happens a lot for me, since I see dodge on my screen all the time.

Nope, it only decreases physical damage (at least resolve works thats way)

I'd love to see that source, this is the first time I'm hearing that.
And yes, you dodge stuff a lot, but once your dex is over 2000 and you have 40% base dodge, using a skill/passive slot to increase it further is not really all that effective unless you have a fat 2H weapon and you are using backlash

I already dropped the passive when I hit 45% dodge for the damage reduction resolve (I think it is called)
