Now in my opinion, this seems pretty LEGEN... wait for it... DARY!

Here’s how it works:
After you hit level 60, any further experience you earn from killing monsters will begin to count toward Paragon levels
There are 100 Paragon levels
Every Paragon level will reward you with:
Core stats such as Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, and Vitality in amounts similar to what you’d gain from a normal level
3% Magic Find and 3% Gold Find
In addition, a distinctive increasingly-impressive border will surround your character portrait in the in-game party frame to denote your Paragon progression, with a new frame earned after every ten levels. Your Paragon level will also be visible to other players wherever your normal level is shown

Interesting.

The more I am reading about this latest patch, the more I am inclined to try D3! :D

This will get me playing again since after level 60 it became only about farming, now I will feel as if I am making some progress again.

Geez 1.04 is just about a whole new game.

Significantly lowered difficulty and much better chance of getting good items. Why didnt they do this earlier?

They must have been getting a lot of complaints for them to make such drastic changes.

Real money AH isn't bringing in the amounts they were expecting IMHO.

That's how Blizzard works. They continually make changes to a game, from balancing to adding new or requested features. D3 may have had great launch sales, but was received poorly, so they have a lot of reason improve it, if they want D3 to last as long as D2 had.

I'm wondering how they are going to release new content. Will they release it as new expansions, like D2, or have content patches inbetween where new quests and areas are added, similar to WoW.

I guess a possibility is also to release smaller DLC's that also allows a character to progress. As an example, a DLC that sends you to Westmarch, adds 5 levels to maximum level and stronger gear that drops.

What if they just messing with us and being on paragon 100 or 300% magic find means nearly nothing? Like 300% paragon magic find is really just 50% real magic find? I dont think they want everyone to be running around with 300+ magic find...

A step in the right direction, may even reinstall the game when the patch hits ;)
Hope it is not the same time as the world of warcraft patch though...

Funny how a lot of people rage quit and uninstalled, you should've just left it there, you were bound to be back sooner or later:D

Edit: Hope you didn't delete your chars as well?

Yeah, they needed to do it to keep the money flowing in from the auction house.

What I want to know is why it launched like it did? I mean, this will result in a completely different economy. Surely beta testing would have revealed it wasnt that fun? Why did it take them this long to figure it out?

Blizzard games are normally renowned for being solid on launch day, and receiving significant support after that. So its a little surprising that not long after it was released, it gets such a major patch. The major D2 patch came like 5 years after the game was released.

While I do agree, this patch looks like it should have been included in the Release... The past few months feels like we have been in the paid beta after reading those class fixes

It's released today I believe, some say Blizzard are trying to keep players pre-occupied during the GW2 Release next week with this and WoW's 5.0.4 patch

Did you even play vanilla D2 right when it was launched? The D2 you remeber is most probably Lord of Destruction.

Yup, I think I started playing from 1.03 vanilla.

Oh sure, the game changed a lot, but it took years to change, not 2 months after release.

D3 at release was way better than D2 vanilla for me (even though it was only a "beta":D)

Well I'd rather wait 2 months than years:p And blizz seems to be listening to their fans, the paragon levels weren't entirely their idea, I remember watching some you tube vids from a guy name kripparian (first hardcore inferno diablo kill) suggesting something similar, so atleast I'm hopefull that with time this game will shape to live up to its full potential, but even D3 1.03 still is a brilliant game.
