Did Bush rig the 2004 election?

Frankly the system used to elect presidents is ridiculous and long overdue for a thorough overhaul. Like campaign financing/bribery there's a lot of talk, but no-one seems to actually want to make any real changes.
 
That's a long article and I don't have the time to read it today. However,...

I voted in 2004. Was planning on voting for Nader. (He didn't have a chance but some fresh ideas in politics and an outsider is always good in my opinion in a two party system.) But standing in my local polling booth at the elementary school walking distance from my house(yes I walked there and back!) I turned my back on the independents and decided to give Kerry my vote. Not that I thought he was a good candidate for the position, but because when it was all over I didn't want another 4 years of Bush.

My state was considered a blue state, so it was going to Kerry most likely, but just to be sure, I pulled the switch Democrate and independent for everyone else. Walked home and started watching the news.

My brother came over and we stayed up watching it late not believing what we were seeing. By 1am, it was a done deal and Bush was the 'winner' again. I looked over at my South African wife and said "looks like it is time to start making those plans to live near your family." So we have been in SA for over a year now taking a break from America until things pass.

It was unreal though. Everyone at work was very solemn the day after not really wanting to look at each other until lunch time really because they couldn't believe we were in for another 4 years of stupidity.

So, do I think something funny went on? Yes. Was it any different than other times? Probably not, but there is more attention drawn on it now. Will we return there in the future? Most likely, since it still has many benefits that I don't see developing here in the future (sorry guys, just stating my observations, no offense).
 
I was thinking of adding something in that line :p hehe.

Maybe Bush learnt from Mugabe/Zuma ?
 
heh reminds me of this site that popped up shortly after showing americans posting sorry picture msg's :P

NaH - Bush is gone in 2008 - nothing he can do about that. Mugabe - he's gonna be there till he decides otherwise.

But hey we must be optimistic in the African way, at least we don't have Zuma for president yet but they have Bush right now.

Uum - the voters are dumber? Or perhaps they are just led in a certain direction (by their extreme right wing controlled media?) uum - or perhaps there really is no democracy - just a tuning of opinions to achieve the desired result?

But when all else fails - count the chads!

Oh so the voters are dumper. Then the world's only super power is home to a majority of dump people. That is a sad reflection on the rest of the world :o .
Secondly if all these people are dump don't you think the "self descibed" highly intelligent, enlightened people in opposition would have manipulated them better than that dump old Bush.

Buy saying "by their extreme right wing controlled media?" I gues you mean FOX. What about CNN, CBS or Air America, how about Hollywood.
 
Bush didnt have to rig the election - if Kerry had just been a more apt opponent he'd have won.
 
If Kerry did'nt flip-flop the whole time he would have been president.
People voted for Bush cause the stood firm in his beliefs, even tho some of them are unpopular.
