Die from a Budgie bite?

facepalm thread of the year!!!

A screenshot should be taken of the OP and posted on failblog.org... :D

To be fair, i know budgies are not venomous.

I was just worried they might carry commonly known and dangerous bacteria.

Thanks, Lyca.

I missed that post somehow.

The vet shoulda given the budgie a antibiotic jab. Last time one of my cats got hurt inna fight the vet gave a jab that he said that would release slowly over 2 weeks so no trips to & from the vet every day :)

The budgie died today :(

Apparently, cats have a lot of bacteria in their mouths.

Because budgie's have very sensitive immune systems, if the bite does not kill them, the bacteria will after a couple of days.

Sad. He was a cute little guy.

I think it's unfair you should blame the poor kitty and not take responsibility for exposing the boor birdie to you germ invested blood.

Happy to help :)

Think budgies are a bit more frail than vicious toms :p

mah tom is a lil kitty. LOL he's so small that even the medium sized female that I have makes him look beeeg. When I got him he could sit on my had & I can still carry him sitting on one arm. He's a midgit kitty.

I have taken plenty of cat bitten birdies (some smaller than budgies) to our vet & they take them in fix 'em & release 'em again. of the many that I have taken there (plenty of cats in the complex) only 2 have not survived. I suppose it does help that the one vet specialises in birdies & lizards & stuff like that. :)

What will happen if your moggie brings in an ostrich?

And while he's at it, better get a penicillin shot as well... fer the Chlamydia 'n Candida!!

penicillin would make the candida worse. :p
