Hey Guys,

I am confused. I recently noticed that filling stations are charging R16,05 for a liter of 50ppm diesel. According to the AA the price of 50ppm diesel is R14,45. Is this something that the petrol station can do or is this daylight robbery? This is at Engen in Northwold.

The selling price is not regulated, stations can charge what they want. If the price is not acceptable then you do not fill up with them. Ironically there is a SASOL around the corner from that Engen selling 10ppm that is considerably cheaper.

Love the free-market.

That Engen does discount thursdays, if you get there between 07:00 and 19:00 they give you I think 0.50 off per litre.
The Sasol around the corner sells their 10ppm for less than that, but I prefer the total at the spar, good pricing and the 50ppm works better with my car.

Yeah I just noticed it the other day when filling up my SO's car. Diesel used to be quite a bit cheaper than petrol, so I immediately noticed when I saw the amount per liter. Will go shop around a bit.

Go truck filling places, not the normal petrol stations.

Puma gives me best price locally. Puma only sells diesel 50 and 500, no petrol at all.

Engen stations are generally more pricey with Diesel.

Too bad you can only earn ebucks with Engen now :(

O yes, but will be around my area still.

Cheapest by a long shot will be the enerGI close to chamberlains, but I'm not quite comfortable putting their diesel in my car.. :)

Total gives you dischem points, so there's that as well. Also, that total by the spar accepts zapper, so if you go and zapper once, save a picture and you can pay without waiting for the card machine and all that jazz.

I found North Rand Fuel Depot near the Eastrand Mall the other day. R 14.52 for 50ppm. Pity it is out of my way.
Slightly closer is the Sasol on North Reef road, Bedfordview @ R 15.03 for 10ppm

Diesel comes in 500ppm, 50ppm and 10ppm, the lower the number, the cleaner and better it is.

in the days of only 500ppm, you had to service your vehicle every 10k kms, with the 50ppm, now you only have to service every 15k kms, plus your fuel economy is better.
yet to try the 10ppm, its not available anywhere near me

I think that only Sasol makes 10ppm at the moment and they only sell it inland.
