Difference between Downstorm and AeroVPS - Which one is better?

Hi, have just signed up but have not tried it yet, sorry am out tonight until tomorrow morning, will try then and post however their support guy on e mail was incredible, responded in 5 minutes every time.
AeroVPS

yeah, my experience as well. logged a ticket, and responded to pretty much instantaneously.
i had a problem with downloading certain files from my ftp site - logged a ticket - and was given constant updates. Aerovps even created a http link in the interim, through which i could get access to the problem folder.

And guess what? It turned out to be a prob with filezilla - and the fix was saved in my downloads site together with instructions.
hows that for service?

Clearly not a South African company ;)

Can one set up a private http proxy on AeroVPS, or are you stuck with the provided solutions only? Can you use specific ports on the server itself? Do you get root access?

A private http proxy should mean that you can run any software via the proxy, including a news server client. I doubt one would get the same speeds as the dedicated solutions with http/ftp downloads. But it would be far more flexible and serve the same purpose, with the benefit that you don't have to store or share files on the server.

On the other hand, what do I know about all this stuff? Zilch.

Correct, seems like a good solution too, only for me, no rapidshare

despite the storage allocation increase - downstorm still more expensive. 7G for R 109 per month vs. 10G for $11.25 (R80.00) (taking into acct 25% discount). off course you are limited in terms of bandwidth and ram vs. downstorm - no limits.

All I can say is that I receive about 5 personal messages a day asking me which I prefer. As I use both AeroVPS and Downstorm.

For me, the rapidshare option is important as I have a RS account, I signed up now waiting for activation, what happens next ?

make payment. wait for their fraud department to verify payment is genuine. then check your messages in the client area - has your access details etc. no emails are sent to your stipulated email address though.

All done and downloading via Rapidleech but I am just concerned about only 10 gigs per month :(

on my downstorm account, originally 2Gigs, I have turned over almost 18Gigs in just about 3.5 days.
so if you have a 4Mb line, I am sure you can achieve similar if not better ratios.

You will receive an email called "New Server Information" -- you need to double check your spam folder too. ;)
