Difference between white iPhone 4S and Black

Hi Guys

Do anyone know what the difference between the white and black iPhone 4S because they are supposed to be the same but it looks like the White one has a extra slit on the front cover where the speaker is located.

Also what colour do you think would be best white or black?

Will the iPhone 4 covers fit on the iPhone 4S?

The slit on the white version is the ambient light sensor. It is not visible on the black version but it is there. As for the cover issue, yes the iPhone 4 covers will fit as they are the exact same size. The S in fact stands for "same form factor"

The slit on the white version is actually for the proximity and light sensor. The reason why it is black like that is because it causes problems with the proximity sensor being able to detect your cheek when talking on the phone if it is white, due to the reflective properties of the white colour.

Not sure where "same form factor" comes from, but I always thought and read that the S stood for "Speed". Thought there is no "official" meaning for the "S" afaik.
 
I like the theory of s standing for same form factor...

Not all iPhone4 covers will fit on the iPhone4S because the mute switch has been relocated ever so slightly.
 
I thought the 'S' stood for 'Arse', as in, "you're an arse for buying iPhone4s"! Oh well, I can't know everything...:D
 
Read somewhere that the S is only a higher processor, so speed sounds about right.
Also read somewhere the iPhone 5 would launch 1st half next year, probably closer to the middle of next year.

On the difference between the black and white...
It's not a documented future and still largely experimental, but the black case contains carbon nano-tubes that are used to charge the battery while in use. The nano-tubes use both light and heat (body heat) to function. It will not charge battery fully when in use but will slow the drain, thus the excellent battery live of the Iphone 4 black. Naturally the white don't contain the nano-tubes which explains why it battery last slightly less. It is thus used as control sample.
