**Please excuse me the English grammar.

Hi all

I'm planning to buy gaming rig PC from http://www.evetech.co.za/Computer-s...70x-quad-core-custom-built-gaming-pc-324.aspx

For Operating System I've decide to choose Windows 8.1.

I see there is two difference 8.1.

  • Window 8.1 Single Language English 64bit [ + R1,149.00 ]
  • Microsoft Windows 8.1 Professional 64bit [ + R1,999.00 ]

I'm not sure the difference between above or what feature it have. I only want the system work well with all games/software/network etc.

Dont want waste R900 extra on 8.1 Professional if both are too similar.

Please share your experience and opinion what I should go for?

Win 8.1 (standard) vs Win 8.1 Pro

Go to the two links and meet up the requirements. Win 8 (standard) is pretty much "home" streamlined.

You only need Professional if you are going to connect the machine to a domain. Otherwise Single Language is fine.

Nothing wrong with Windows 8.1 been using it for abour 3 months and everything works, not one program compatability issue. It's only a mindset adjustment before you are fully comfortable with 8.1.

Maybe there are underlying issues you are experiencing, not necessarily related to Windows.

Note that if you have a child still in school or you yourself are a student you can pick up 8.1 Pro for about R500 directly from Microsoft.

Edit: If any of your family members are a student in school or university you can get it at that price.
