Digichilli Experiment

Ah weird well then just put your wan ip in that big white box manually or switch to Apex/Strong and use the get ip button.

Best I've seen uploading from my side was 80 kbps ....

Whenever I try to get someone's file list ... it just says "connection timeout"

Any ideas?

apexdc++ has get external ip address, this solved my ip problems, did manual port forwarding and everything working better

Your reported IP: 10.0.0.3 does not match your real IP: 196.**.**.***
[21:08:51] *** Connecting to banarray.pointto.us:8002...
[21:09:13] *** A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

Thats the error I get connecting

This (judging from line one) is the same as the other wan ip errors. Either enter your ip manually in or use "Get Ip Address"

Can anyone please help me? I just can get any file lists... I've done port forwarding too, but the test fails... PLease HELP

My DC support skills are evidently a bit rusty and since I'm not actually planning on using the hub I'm bowing out at this point BUT I'll leave with a few other possible problem points people might be having.

1) Stop your torrents. Really, stop them. Trying to run DC++ with torrents in the background causes innumerable errors.

2) (Particularly for the filelist and timeout problems) Make sure you're set to DIRECT CONNECTION and NOT passive mode if you can help it. Your ports will need to be forwarded correctly for this mode to work (check the greyed boxes on the right - in apex - to see the appropriate ports to forward) however.

3) Forwarded ports are useless if windows firewall (or another brand) is blocking the dc++ ports. Either configure it or kill it.

4) Just as a general note for if the hub gets up and running nicely, avoid sharing or downloading large amounts of files that are <1mb. Your filelist size not only grows massively when you do this but is also likely to become corrupt and when downloading your whole queue can be corrupted.

I'd link to the hub guide I wrote a few years back but that's mostly got iBurst voodoo tricks about it and would just confuse everyone here. Good luck guys and hope this gets a running start.

We tried this near the beginning and it was also a bit of a bust. Pity, would be kinda cool.

yeah looks kind of like it is a bit of a bust this time around as well.. :(

Not really stable enough for large downloads...

Thanks!!! But got it eventually running... Though I never knew about the Torrent plus DC++ at the same time thing... So thanks :)

I have a slow line speed (384,) but i seem to be doing fine - the best speeds I've seen in a couple of weeks.

Still having problems getting file lists from everyone, but generally I am doing good.

Maybe Dave can do some work on improving speeds for the 4mg guys internally on DC++. They are the ones you need if you want to run a sustainable DC++ server.

Unstable

Once you start a download yeah you get good speads, one line drop or disconnection and you cant carry on with your download, time out error, so its pointless

Why don't you guys rather host a torrent tracker? It offers more redundancy etc...

Overall it was fun - saw sum bursting from ToxicBunny and Cowboy last night ...

Yeah.. it was a fun experience... and its a decent little system, when it works...

BUT I can see some issues with it in terms of data redundancy, since for instance my stuff is all named differently to everyone else.. and I have HD episodes and such....

I think a DC news server is the way to go in my opinion.

Yes ... a DC news server would rock however I dont think it will be a match for my current newshosting package.

Even the IS news server is slow most of the times ....
