Sorry if I offended anyone.

Actually I feel offended by the way DC is treating their customers.

Call centre is not returning calls.

DC is not participating on their own Website forum.

Overall, little or no communication or support.

Speeds go up and down. One thing is fixed, next thing is broken, etc...

Sorry again.
 
The network has been running fine lately I think DC will be a good provider. Dec was unfortunate but it's been sorted

Doesn't sound like it is sorted at all.
People on 384k lines on the Spicy package are still saying that their torrents are below 10k, while people with 4mb lines on the Spicy package are getting 40k+.
If the network doesn't have excess bandwidth, they should be getting the exact same speed as everyone else on Spicy, irrespective of line speed.

And DC is allowing people to download pirated stuff off of newsservers and rapidshare at 30k, while torrents are running at less than 10k. Either shape both, or neither. But the current situation is unfair.

Browsing has always been decent. The only thing that has improved a lot is Skype which is now decent

I have a Spicy account.

BTW, my torrents are <1kb/s!:mad:

Using my Afrihost account now, torrents back to >30kb/s!

Oh, and I can log into my PSN network again...

DC cannot control what is legal and what is not (and cannot control if you are downloading legal or illegal material), and why would torrents only be used for legal downloads?
 
Anyone recommend the correct port to use with utorrent. my speeds are fluctuating badly. One minute I get 5k the next 30k but mostly hovers around 10k. I'm using port 8080.

Yes, torrents can be used for legal or illegal content. Just like news servers and rapid share.
Torrents might be hammering their network, but so are people using news servers and rapidshare. So they should be treated the same as torrents. Either remove shaping on torrents, or shape news servers and rapidshare the same as torrents

Shouldn't make a difference. DC aren't shaping based on ports as far as I am aware, they are shaping based on protocol

Pfft! You're looking pretty good in comparison. I haven't seen torrents above 5k in 2 weeks, local or international, barring with other DC users.

sigh I got two torrents running for 1d15h each and neither are close to 50% complete... :(

the IS newserver DOESN'T work... and neither does the Cheapernews one... :(
 
Seems to have slowed down a bit more, getting up to 3KBps atm.

Get rapidshare or subscribe to a news server. You will immediately stop complaining.

Rapidshare can't be shaped, its based on http which is port 80. If they should start shaping it, then all browsing will suffer.
 
I see there are similar slow down comments in one of the Screamer threads, maybe an upstream problem?
 
How many DC users are trying to use torrents? If we all became friends on Vuze we might get something decent going. But Vuze is :sick:
