DigiChilli January Status and feedback

I am not getting any connectivity on DC. Anyone else?

Cant get connection on DC, any ideas?

Still, since 18H00?

Reboot pc and router, then when online again, relog the u/n and p/w in the router.

If that doesn't help, PM Dave, with your DC account username and your DC account email.

same stuff is happening to megaupload, wont go higher than 5kb/s, this has happened before but was sorted shortly, hope they are not planning to throttle or shape (extreme low priority) them, coz in that case they loose almost all their customers.

If anything it's probably temporary while they are sorting things out.

I'm sure they want people to be able to use whatever services they like, but it seems like it's difficult to get things right.

Now I'm baffled...

I thought Kaspersky was the problem, but I just turned on Kaspersky and turned off ZoneAlarm...and Secondlife is still working.

Dave, please let us know if DC did something tonight, to make SL work again.

I hope this is temporary because this is the worst experience I've had with DigiChilli other than when the network has been down, Since DigiChilli launched I've always gotten good speeds with Rapidshare, but the speeds at the moment are unbearable.

Well torrents were bad and RS was good. Now RS is bad and torrents are good right?

They are tweaking the system imo. Hopefully the more they play the quicker it all gets sorted.

Nope, torrents are still horrible for me. No faster than 5KB/s average, and I get bursts of 10KB/s if I'm lucky.

We did do something. We updated the definition files! So now are shaper knows of SL and all the rest.

This new definition has resulted in lots of packages going into the correct buckets but we may now have to adjust the buckets. e.g. Torrents suddenly slowed down cos the 'new' list has moved another 30 torrent packages into line.

So anyone using one of those packages is now going somewhere (albeit slowly) whereas they weren't going anywhere at all before. Same as SL is now in a definition which allows it to be put into a proper gaming profile. XBOX etc.

RS is one of those that moves out of 'I'll get as much as I want' into downloads. See above.

We'll adjust the total allocations after we've collected 24 hours data.

So by when can we expect to get at least our minimum speeds, regardless of the application we're using.

I have torrents which have been limping along at 1-2kB/s since 08/12. I was quite happy to use RS but now RS is going the same way.

I don't mind getting shaped to my package speed but this never seems to happen. I get either 80kB/s or 1kB/s, and I really do not want to spend the rest of my life waiting for 32 different apps each downloading at 1kB/s :(

After the 24 hour data collection, will Rapidshare be runnig better cause now its crawling a long, too much shaping i think.

+1. My news server download are running at 14kB/s for over a week now. I used to download around 3 gigs a day, now I only manage to get 1.5gigs.

P.S. Thank you for the update Dave, see you were working at 04:00 so we really appreciate it.

dont get me wrong, do not mind the shaping/speed limit thing happening, actaully agree with it. i only expect a little bit better running multithreat HTTP dowloads like on rapidshare, thats all. Sure all will be sorted after the 24 hour collection of data is over.

I also dont mind the shaping but I would also like to see that correct speeds are given to the correct packages. I would also like to know when we will see our minimum speeds regarding of which application we use.

I see on the hellopeter.com site that Darren Smith says the guys have been working nights through to get things sorted.

I agree with this, except that I keep seeing messages that torrents should now be much better and for me they have not improved at all. Not since early December where we had a couple of days of flying torrents. My concern is now that in 24 hours when we see the message that RS should now be better I'm still only getting 1kB/s

No Restrictions

"With South Africa's best Uncapped and Unthrottled ADSL service, enjoy a sizzling connection with no restrictions for down and/or uploading"

So much for the statement above on the digichilli site.

I don't mind getting a minimum of 256kb/s on the spicy package but this is rediculous. They have now shaped RS and torrentz. HTTP downloads are a complete joke and have been since the launch.

What is the point of an uncapped service if you can only download 1.5 gigs a day if you lucky and when the network is running. At the moment I'm getting between 3 - 5 kb/s on RS downloads through FDM. Thats slower than a dialup connection.

DC, you are going to lose all your customers because right now for R300 a month I can get 10 GIGS from afrihost per month and have full speeds on all download types and have full browsing speeds. My browsing speeds are also rediculously slow and I am paying for something that right now cannot even achieve its moneys worth in a month.

The least we could have on an uncapped account is RS downloads at full speed, if that cannot be obtained or provided by digichilli, then i'm sorry but this uncapped service is pointless since all other download methods are shaped so badly.

Remember, this is a "no restrictions" service .... right :(

I am having extremely slow speeds on Rapidshare and Megaupload. Well almost non-existent. Anyone else?
