This a linux based OS? Wanna load Ubuntu server on mine, but sceptical.

There seems to be a general slowdown now.

Also getting weird speedtest.net results again, as the download gets to about halfway across the Atlantic, where it suddenly shoots to the end points and drives the speed reading through the roof again...

There's voodoo in them BCS pipes, ah tell ya...

The Speakeasy test returned an error each time. http://mybroadband.co.za/photos/showphoto.php?photo=14166&cat=500

Must be problems with telkom or the upstream providers again, since the same types of errors happened before, when they started acting up.

Well its linux but you do everything from web interface...very nice another one that also works well but only allows fallover is endian which is based on debian....clearos has the most business protocols and stuff..qos,vpn and so on...msg me if you want to know more

mine always gets stuck over the Atlantic coming back for quiet a while and does a nose dive down...it acts as if some one has given it a right hefty kick to the rear end....:D

I cooled down, just wanna now if I have to pay again for re-joining. nothing to do with p2p

It's not that easy....you are using software to shape your traffic...they bought hardware to do this...users on DC were wrapping their P2P traffic into http packets...the hardware they bought analyzes those packets...each one and shapes it accordingly...i might be wrong but i don't think software can do that at that level.

but yes shaping is a problem, i think they have more problem than just that...upstream SP's etc

I was giving an example of what they should be doing, besides there are softwares out there that can properly analyse network packets and throttle accordingly, they might not be cheap but whats R20000 if it can solve this prob that they are having? on another note, why not consider cisco? yea it will cost a lot but in the long run it will save. Other thing thats really bothering me is the fact that pple on 4mb lines are still getting full line speed, that should be the easiest thing to limit.

My connection is going great since yesterday. Used Skype video for an hour or so last night, not one hicup. Browsing good. Torrents still a bit slow.
