New shaper definitions have been loaded.

This has helped us correctly categorise protocols. e.g. torrents, browsing etc.
It put a whole lot of strain on some protocols while helping others. We've gone through a 24 hour cycle with minor tweaking to re-adjust these benefits.

Torrents should be better than before.
RS will not be bursting to full line speeds anymore. Sorry. But it also won't be impacting on browsing etc either. We will adjust these protocols on demand and availability within the network today and tomorrow.
Our time-based shaping still needs to be fully implemented.
Funny things like Shareza, emule, donkey etc, will now get off the mark but will be treated according to definition.
Gaming should be pretty much better. Any feedback on SL and Xbox, PS3, WOW, COD?

We will be doing some more adjustments over the next few days to improve overall performance.

Sorry - shouldn't have called Donkey funny.

Great, thanks for the update, Dave :D

Been on SL all night and it flowed well. No crashes, still. What a difference to no longer crash every 5-10 minutes, like with telkom or any other ISP.

It's truly a fantastic feeling to be able to be part of conversations and not have to spend my time in SL, saying "thanks" continuously, since everyone always says "welcome back" after a crash.

I never felt I was really part of the conversations, because I just spent as much time logging in, as being there.

Thanks to all at DC! :D

Rapid is still totaly dead!! Dave can you please explain why rapidshare is being treated this way?

Hi Dave, what speeds are we expecting on rapidshare? ATM they are completely dead!

so what does this mean? if enough people complain about RS you are going to change this? Should we get at least double our paid package speed on Rapidsahre? Just want some clarity on the matter, as it seems that gaming is getting preference above business protocol

Dave, does this mean that from now on my news server speeds will stay at 11kB/s? If thats the case do you mind canceling my account and give me a refund please.

Thank you

@Dave

Is it only RS you're targeting , or does other sites like
MU have full package speed?

if only Rs, the MU will follow soon as people will start using MU then, so i think all multi threat download sites. Still i do not agree that it should be managed this much, at least give us something. :)

My Xbox Live managed to download a 728MB update yesterday, the first time I was able to get a sustained connection through DC so that left me feeling pretty happy. Might actually get Gold now and see about doing some online things :)

My RapidShare worked fine (peaking at some ridiculous speeds of over 200kB/s yesterday afternoon :wtf: ). It has settled on 50kB/s now, and I am happy with that speed since it matches double my package speed. If I see spikes of 200kB/s again I'll limit the rate myself but I would prefer not to do so since it results in some instability on jDownloader for some reason.

My uTorrent is still really crappy. I does not lift above 10kB/s and most of the time it is below 5kB/s, even if I switch jDownloader off completely. :cry: A 3.78GB torrent I started on 08/12/2009 with never fewer than about 30 seeds is now sitting at 94% complete. I have 100MB left to download ... at 1.5kB/s :sick:

I have seeded back 9.877GB on this torrent since I added it ... given how torrents have been shaped should allow some appreciation for the marathon uTorrent has been running ;)

Rapidshare is not being targeted.

Some programs have helped people fall outside their package limits. We need to get them back into their respective boxes while giving each client his max possible throughput. But, some programs don't yet get correctly assigned and they then get less than they should.

We're scolding the techies for slowing things down.

Our data collection should help them get it tuned during today.

Morning all, Thanks Dave for the update, i see my torrents are now at an average of 13KB/s, Browsing is much better than yesterday so far. p2p (emul is still very dead, average of 1.8KB/s :cry: and multiple http downloads reaching 25KB/s:)

@Dave

Im a piggs peak poker player and i have found that the software losses connection with their server. On Afri and Telkom it works fine

Could you have a look at it?
