It downloaded the first 64k of each pic then the download paused and the next one started. Had to select them all and resume about 3 times to get the rest of the pics.

Exactly 64k. Really, really quite irritating. I gotta say that after using Wget to get today's QC I was quite disappointed to see manly cheesecake.

When packet loss occurs, chaos reigns. The receiving end has to notify the sending end that a packet has not arrived. There can be many different reasons for this, but regardless of the reason the sending end has to be told to resend the missing packet(s) of data. The amount of chaos caused will depend on where the lost packet was in the chunk of data and just how many packets were lost.

One very important reason for the chaos with regard to the application is that data has to be processed in order. If a packet is lost at the beginning, then the receiving end cannot process the subsequent packets until the missing packet or packets are recovered. So those packets that follow the missing packet must be stored until the missing packets are resent and the application that wants the data has to wait. This can happen several times with the same chunk of data, so the larger the chunk the larger the risk.

Still cannot log into Secondlife and the speeds are very slow.

Charging people for a product that does not work is callous and unacceptable in my books. It is not as they started this service yesterday is it?

What improvement have they done quite frankly.

Lino, don't get my wrong.. I wouldn't be paying for this product in its current state.

BUT the Seb characted is one who 2 days ago was complaining that he wasn't getting his promised 450kb/s downloads when Digichilli don't offer such a product. It just seems like this person is out to complain as much as is possible, rather than attempting to use constructive criticism and to help Digichilli pinpoint the problem.

How much pinpointing do they need. Their product is horrible and they don't improve.

Why do you think Web Africa had 1 bazillion test accounts and still don't have anything to say about the tricks up their sleeves. Because they are competent. They are polishing their products even before we hear of them.

Have you ever tried to setup in ISP network in this country?

Look, I'm not defending them blindly. I have some idea just how hard it is to setup and operate an ISP network.

Webafrica also had the luxury of receiving an income from its customers while it trialed its new network, Digichilli did not.

I checked my usage according to SAIX and compared it to my network monitor....
3600MB vs 3000MB (combined).
17% packet loss on intl.... if this is what it's indicative of...

Well it can't be Seacom because I am getting 0% packet loss on my Screamer conection and they use Seacom.

all the other places like rapidshare etc I can open and download from even though it is worse than watching paint dry speed but not from mediafire....

these are my usage stats since dec 9......

Sessions Online Time (Seconds) Upload (Bytes) Download (Bytes) Combined (Bytes)

158 1402855 4 163 178 480 14 918 019 231 19 081 197 711

Today torrents running at average 10 kbs. the big problem is that DC is just not stable, as soon as they fix something, they break something else. I can connect with FTP, but forget downloading. Remote desktop the same, connects very fast, but then it is coffee cup slow. So much for business protocol priorities!

About giving them a chance, think they had more than enough. What they are doing is nothing new, no new science or technologies. All the tech they are using all the other ISPs are using. So what is their problem?
