slow for me, very very very slow!

I can't even state how slow, I'm on my telkom account because it's impossible to browse on this shhhhhhhhhhhhhhttt con.

My gprs is kicking it's backside and it's way more reliable. Torrents aren't uploading or downloading. Trying to download my borderlands dlc and nothing...

Very slow.

32 kbps down (~0.03 Mbps, 4 KB/s) ↓
32 kbps up (~0.03 Mbps, 4 KB/s) ↑

Details:
100 KB downloaded in 25.531 seconds
100 KB uploaded in 25.344 seconds
Speed @ 42% of the average for digichilli.co.za
Tested on: 2009.12.27 19:37 EST
Tested from: clowder.ca

http://www.speedguide.net/speedtest/

Although browsing is fast at 20-30KB...

Still cannot get Secondlife or the MyConnection PC program to work... Something is seriously wrong if even the analysis tools cannot get to work on the system.

I bet we're about to get an update from Dave ... :)

Do you realise there's 130 odd pages on this thread and Dave has updated us yet we still have a non working connection?!

Man, i am pissed. Just can't help moaning anymore.

Hi Guys,

Apologies for the absence. We had to bring the network down twice this weekend to clear the effects of the un-broadcast block of 41.xx IP's on Thursday as well as some gremlins in the radius server.

We've implemented some changes that will help improve the network. We had to throttle torrents and other protocols to identify the issues and effects. We'll be working on improving these 'other' protocols today.

We're keeping the 20% discount in place for January 2010.

Anyone that feels that they haven't received enough benefit from our service this month is welcome to mail me directly in connection with a refund.

Morning Dave and welcome back :)

Things are deff looking better, had a decent night of downloading. Please keep us updated, so we know where we stand and what to expect.

Good Luck

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the update. Could you clarify a couple of things for us:

1. Are we getting our non-standard protocols shaped for both local and international traffic? I am downloading torrents and if someone on the DC network is also d/l the same torrent I get up to 70-80kB/s. As soon as it moves outside of digichilli it's around 0.3kB/s.

2. Is there no way to at least allocate the minimum guaranteed bandwidth per user? I think if you could at least allow everyone the b/w they're paying for (or at least 80% of the b/w they're paying for if the discount remains in place) you are not as likely to lose a huge chunk of your subscribers on Friday afternoon.

Thanks

I need more clarification on 1. please. Mail me directly.

On 2). That's what we did this weekend. Just a few gremlins and then everyone should be getting there allotted bandwidth properly. Including if it is a torrent or not etc.

Why then are there pages and pages in this thread from this weekend of people getting 5KB/s up, 4KB/s down, packet loss, etc etc?

When can we expect a service that works 100% of the time for 100% of the subscribers?

What I don't get is why this process has to take so long?
Another thing, are these problems happening to all DC users? I guess DC will say no, but the fact that there were abusers of bandwidth at one stage, indicates that some people were receiving their bandwidth :-)

If you put a 384 line and a 4Mb line onto a single resource, the 4Mb line will actually choke the 384 line. Now if you use that 4Mb line the whole time, then the 384 line gets choked so badly that it struggles to get anything at all from that resource, because all the cpu cycles on the resource's server is going towards the 4Mb line and it's requests.

I can live with that

Adrenalin, now that is ridiculous!

@ CambodiaDave and Makhulu Chilli:

I find it extremely upsetting to know that you are charging customers for a service that is clearly non existent. Your network is flawed, unstable, slow and completely rubbish! I Will NOT and I repeat WILL NOT pay DigiChilli a single CENT until you clean up your act and start delivering what has been promised. To those of you who are "happy" or can "live" with this whole 20% discount, I call BS! In my honest opinion I think that everyone deserves to be refunded for your crap service and for everyone to be continuing to trial your network because I dont feel ANYONE should be paying for an unusable service AND I think that a lawyer should perhaps be involved.

Makhulu Chilli, I dare you to tell me that "I dont have" to use your network if I dont want to. This is completely ridiculous! I have not been able to use your network for a few days. You are SO lucky that im still on your trial account, or else I would have gone to a lawyer myself!

Fix up your FSCKING network and stop charging your customers! your 20% discount will not work with me AND should not work with anyone else!

I hope you take this very seriously as I am, because more then half of the people here, are thinking the same as I am.

Good Day!

Hi
I have noticed that as well, when i download from bitfarm and a chillie user seeds the torrent you are downloading, it flies, (on my line 384, 28 - 32) but when he, the chillie seeder, leaves my torrent goes down to 0.9 - 2
