DigiChilli Network Status

The intermittent problems have been happening on afrihost aswell.

I'm downloading Linux Mint 8 from a local ftp server - its hovering around the 40KBps mark.....nice......

Havent really tried anything else....but web browsing is fine as well......just takes a bit of time to resolve the DNS.........

Just started testing local FTP speeds.. and they're blisteringly awesome..... gonna get myself Ubuntu 9.10 tonight just to see... might have to run it on my 2nd server :D

I reckon mine's gonna be fast now too. My Ubuntu updates would barely start yesterday. Downloading filezilla tonight went quick (via ftp.up.ac.za), so I'm assuming it will be awesome.

I am having a problem with steam. I can't log in. Unfortunately, downloading the games I bought on steam was my main reason for going uncapped.

Using Wireshark, I noticed that only a few packets (around 30 or 40) are sent back and forth before everything stalls and I am left waiting at the login window. When using another adsl account, a lot more packets are sent and I log in successfully.

Does anyone one the digichilli side or in this forum have any suggestions? I would be very grateful if I could get it to work. I will send the digichilli people an email as well.

I am having extremely slow speeds and just cant get my router to
renew the IP, or is there a problem somewhere.

Thanks

The blocks of IPs affected was resolved. Not sure where your issue is. Can you send ipconfig /all and userid to me please.

Report back:

Browsing speeds better.
"edit" - correction - actually not so good all of a sudden - pretty SLOOOOW

Local better

International newsgroups : radically slow (like 0.4kb/s - 2.9 kb/s)

R100K or so til things are settled. The usage is shooting through the roof and there may be issues.

Ta.
