DigiChilli Network Status

Who do DC cater for?

The gamer ..
The man at work ..
or the downloader?

Why not have a games package .. a work package and a downloader package .. all basically the same price but just different ports main port fully open and the rest throttled

I myself are looking for a package that will handle all work protocols at full , HTTP Skype IM FTP and so forth but I also want to d/l something at night or so, when not at work, but I can wait for the d/l via torrent or news server I don’t have to have that yesterday.

But if a client want drivers, that I need yesterday, and would like to have that kind of speed when and where it matters.

Other ppl will be more for the gaming online via steam and so
And the rest will look for something that will handle torrents, news servers and so with ease.

Why try to find a middle path and now everyone is complaining at some stage.
 
may be not the right place to ask this...but where can i check how much bandwidth i used up so far....just to get an idea where the things are going.

that saix link posted on digichilli forums doesn't work at all.
 
So not only does this provider have false advertising with the "No thresholds, Download all you can" but is totally useless. I mean for heavens sake I can't do anything, if I'm lucky I can open a quarter of a website before the timeout, my im apps do not connect at all, torrents is out of the question I only get 0kbs with them, Rapidshare seems to be the only way to use this internet (even tho the max speed i get is about 3kb) but now I can't even do that, yesterday I downloaded a 100mb file 25 times and still didn't mange to get the full thing since it times out 24/7 and kills my download. So I basically gave them my money as donation as I'm not really getting internet but rather timeouts, definitely not paying next month or ever again.

It may be easier to do what you say but we are trying to to change a mindset. The 50 gig throttling will be pointed out as 'fine print'. Its more difficult now (meaning they will not take the easy route) but may get to a better resolution in the medium and long term.

The challenge for us is to get to a managed uncapped fast network as soon as possible. Period.

Our average users (no of users/amount of bandwidth) use 50Gb at this stage. This is not a cap or rolling threshold it's just the average as of today.

Our packages will be dictated to some extent by what our customers want. You ask, we think, and then we respond. An sometimes we skip the middle step as being inconvenient.
 
Update:

Browsing is OK, intl. seems sluggish, local is good. Still no Steam. No League Of Legends or HON. Well no torrents. Some updates from DC would be nice.
 
yeah. browsing's slow. streamings slow. http downloads max out at about 11KBps. torrents arent workin.. watsup?]

ok http download picked up to 15KBps

Sorry folks, but uncapped doesn't mean a free for all. In the uk, my broadband was uncapped. Hell, even my iphone data was uncapped. But they all had fair usage policies. Which each ISP defines as fair usage, varies. O2 broadband was either 50gb or 80gb, cant remember. And O2 iPhone data had a fair usage policy of 500mb iirc

What DigiChilli is doing is great. They are taking us into the UK model, where you buy the speed of your internet, not the data you download. The UK might be awful in everything else, but that model is the one thing they got right. So big ups to DigiChilli for bringing it here

Torrents dead in the water still. Steam also still dead. Any one else getting better results? Some updates, Dave? The DC website still down.
 
Dave when is someone going to fix my account so I can connect. Sent an e-mail with all the details you request but still getting authentication errors and no word from you about a new password etc. Been a day now... But not being able to connect is not much worse than when I'm connected anyway, so take your sweet time... Not getting my money again next week anyway.

And why is no one answering the phones when is says "Open from 6am to 10pm daily (Monday to Sunday)" on your website. Extremely unhappy!

Bet in the UK they explain to you before hand that there is a fair usage policy and don't splash all over their website that it is unlimited.

"With South Africa's best Uncapped and Unthrottled ADSL service, enjoy a sizzling connection with no restrictions for down and/or uploading." Is what DigiChilli advertise on their website. 'Uncapped', 'Unthrottled' & 'no restrictions' - doesn't imply any fair usage policies in my opinion.

Sweden has a much better model, no shaping & no fair usage policies - you can use your line as you see fit. Pity about always trying to kill TPB though :p And yes, Sweden is miles ahead of us infrastructure wise and not suggesting we should have the same, but if you advertise such things on your website you should be held to the standard you advertise.

This is really a load of sh*t can't ever load a web page, do you guys at Digichilli understand the work "guarantee" because I don't think so.... where is the guaranteed minimum 256kbps?????? :sick:

I understand 1 or 2 days poor servise but since Digichilli went live it has been cr*p, you should really think about refunding us because you have not lived up to what you have promised. I AM TIRED OF HEARING TOMORROW IT WILL BE FIXED!!! :mad::sick::sick::mad:

Not sure whats up with your connection but, i have been having a great experience on DC since yesterday. D/loads are quick browsing is great.

No issues at all.
Have you rebooted ur modem?

Hey assassin,

On 384kbps line R300 package. My browsing is not the best, http downloads max out around 12KB, but are unstable, torrents max out at 5KB. So I don't know, using another account now.
