Digital divide hits township hard

As usual TELKOM is LYING again. They do not want internet for the masses. This will need bigger infrastructure, more employment, more paperwork etc. Why supply a service to 1000 customers at a low price if the same profits can be generated of 200 customers. They can do it because there is no compitition as we all know.

I know a home based care group in Soweto that is funded by a Canadian NGO, they work out of a freight container and have a 56k dial-up modem, which is on from 9am to 5pm - The Canadians pay and Telkom laughs all the way to the bank

:eek:no dsl in soweto:eek:

@ic - learnt that the sometimes accurate sometimes not khaas is actually the reverend..perhaps divine inspiration here?

Telkom has no social responsibility. The government made sure of that.

Actually I have been warming to dear old Khaas from the SMME Forum - he has IMO been making a lot more sense lately, which is great :)
Hi IC

I agree. Mr. Khaas has also been praising MyADSL in his presentations and commented on the positive impact this online community had on the broadband arena. I am fairly certain he is a member, so if you read this, thanks a bunch for the nice comments Tebogo :D

Regards,

RPM

Telkom has also said they are going to roll out their triple play offering to security complexes first.
I already have adsl and live in a security complex but I can't get it because
a) i don't have a TV or a decoder and the service is not for PC's
b) they charge triple play as a separate service (triple pay)

I am in the right area but I am not given the choice to use the technology. How ****ed up.
