I do not support the complication of the STB
Thank you Saule, for the welcome and kind advice.
contrary to the impression I seem to have created, I do not support the complication of the STB. I simply believe that since the digital migration is mandated by the ITU, and approved by cabinet, as an engineer and a South African, I can use my skills pooled with that of others to make a difference to the lives of others.
UEC, who has manufactured decoders in DUrban for over a decade is regarded as a serious international player, exporting to a number of countries around the world. Another Durban based company, National Manpower, has been training electronics assembly line operators (at no charge) for 16 years.
Producing over 10 000 electronics assembly line operators in this period.
It is initiatives such as these that make a positive difference to our collective futures.
The 20 000 jobs I speak of cover a whole range of disciplines, directly in the manufacture, distribution, support, and supplementary services.
We can choose to whinge about this migration, or we can work at using it to make a positive change. Either way, its going to happen, and the costs will be as decided by the powers that be!
Anyone knows any techies who want to be involved in the innovation cluster do let me know please.
