Asterisk Fast Start is a three-day hands-on course designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary for an entry-level Asterisk Administrator to be successful on the job. Using a combination of information-rich lectures and practical lab exercises, this course familiarizes you with Asterisk and the environment in which it operates, both in terms of operating system and telephony (traditional and IP) connections. This course will take you from a freshly installed Linux PC through to a fully configured and working Asterisk implementation. You do not need to have previous experience with Linux, telephony or Asterisk.

Asterisk Advanced with dCAP certification
Johannesburg: 13-17 March 2017
Cape Town: 22-26 May 2017

The Asterisk Advanced course is a five-day hands-on course that covers the knowledge and skills an advanced Asterisk administrator should know to be effective at his or her job. It is a combination of both lectures and labs designed to give the students both the theory behind the concepts and the hands-on experience to be able to effectively deploy Asterisk-based solutions.

In Asterisk Advanced, students will learn to create advanced dial plans and innovative telephony solutions by using the features of Asterisk. Along the way, students will also get important insight into VoIP. Students will also explore connecting Asterisk to a variety of devices, including analog phones and phone lines, digital phone lines, VoIP phones and VoIP providers

Why are the Dcap qualifications so expensive ?
I gather the price is set my Digium.
Have you thought of doing a similiar course but without the qualification at a reduced rate ?

Unfortunately the pricing is set by Digium, and because it's a US based company we have to track Rand/Dollar. On the plus you do leave with some telephony hardware in hand unlike other courses where you're generally left with some printed manuals that gather dust on the shelf.

We're a Digium partner and passionate about Asterisk so it wouldn't really make sense to us to offer a similar non-Digium sanctioned course.
 
Can you take the exam without going for the training? I have been working on raw asterisk for the past 8 years and would like to to the exam one of these days.

Yes you can: Exam only is R4000 ex VAT.

This is a hands-on exam so you will be expected to configure a system from scratch.

I have added 2016 dates.

For those with enough Asterisk experience under their belt who would like to have a go at the dCAP exam, there will be an opportunity to do so at the Asterisk Community Conference on the 16th of Feb 2016.
