DionWired online store relaunched

It's like most big retail stores these days - couple of items reasonably priced and the rest of your basket tends to be just ridiculous.

I know the convenience factor comes into play but you should just buy as far as you can when things are on promo - except from Pick 'n Pay cos their advertised specials are what the rest of the retailers sell at normally!

Okay - rant over!

Yes they are expensive but they are positioning themselves at the shopper that can't be bothered with price (can't be too many of those around with the economy the way it is) but it's a fairly smart move from them. I suspect the competition is getting a bit tough in the urban areas for their business model and going out into the rest of Southern Africa will allow them to sell to people that are getting fleeced anyway by the local shops.

Is it just me or is DionWired damn expensive?

They're pretty average, I'd say. Some things cheap-ish, others very expensive.

The trick is their special offers, those are usually VERY cheap. Just take a look at the Home Theater/Surround Sound Bargains thread.

In my experience their level of service is as low as their (general) prices are high

I have always received nothing but amazing service from DionWired, both in person at their Fourways branch and on their online store.

Last week I bought 3 Sony HX9's in their Blue Monday special. A 4k compact bridge camera for 2k. Absolute bargain, and on top of that they gave me great service via Twitter when I had some difficulty with their website and my credit card. The couriers delivered a day early on both orders. On top of that they threw in free bags and SD cards that I wasn't expecting.

I've bought several other items from them over the years in their physical stores. The Fourways branch has super friendly salespeople and they always have really good prices. Their specials are usually awesome.

I am surprised to hear of the mostly negative experiences in this thread.
