I would try go for full Dx 9c install than upgrading if you can. Do any games you have or Driver Cd's come with Dx 9c?

This stuff happens tho

I often format my machine instead of cleaning registry n all that Jazz....and last time it didnt wanna find my sound card till i formatted...yet again...Nuts

Yup, loaded all MB drivers except one which is a USB Bridge (I think) and I can't find the bloody driver, i've tried everything.

If you installed SP2 after loading XP - it's probably a USB 2.0 device. Simply 'uninstall' the device, and then 'scan for hardware changes' or reboot.

It should pick up and install it correctly.
