Today I heard that everyone in my office have paid their E-toll bills. I'm the only one that's resisting.

Have people just given up on the fight? It looks to me like people are just too scared to not pay. :(

It's the opposite in my office, not one of us have paid or got an etag and most of us use the highway daily.

Stay strong, the people who have paid are the minority.

It could be this :

They do have a chance of collapsing, but the odds of it continuing are far greater. Someone that doesn't have an e-tag (capped) could be looking at R1,500pm using the road and resisting. After the court cases and months of fighting, resisting and protesting they will probably end up winning. That person may be whacked with R10,000 bill which he can't afford.

Just a thought

I was expecting some drama, I was disappointed.

Hehe sorry for the disappointment. No drama. I just got my first sms from Sanral today which sparked a conversation.

So I was wondering if other people are holding out because the people here always said they won't pay but now they have.

Kick them in the panty.

Well done it. I have great respect for civil disobedience when a country is being bled dry by vultures.

We should brand them like they used to do hensoppers, I suggest a large e-toll symbol on the right cheek.

Its not that simple,

You can read all the chain emails and resist payment for as long as you want - but if they have the power to blacklist your name, the day it happens will be the biggest shock on your system. Many people realise that Sanral can easily get you - it's like a police roadblock - 20 cars pass and 3 gets pulled over, which is nice until you're one of the 3.

So judge people paying e-tolls, be angry at them - but the day **** strikes and you're staring up sanral's barrel, your disobedient friends will have scattered.

Just a thought though, still hate Sanral, e-tolls and gantries.

So rather just roll over and play brain dead? In my opinion if you pay etolls then you are no longer allowed have any ill feelings towards them / SANRAL.

Please. My latest E-Toll letter says i owe over R1500.

I just laughed and threw it in the bin.

They not going to take 1 000 000 people to court and then what, shut down the economy of the Gauteng?
Sue people for driving to work, yeh thats going to work well for everyone.

Nobody I know is paying.

I was playing devils advocate - but that's what's going through people's mind when paying and I understand why. Someone who has a lot to lose will be a lot less reluctant to practice civil disobedience than someone that really has nothing to lose. Why take the hit if it could have consequences (not saying there are any, yet) but try understand that people aren't pussies, they're just trying to avoid future complications.

I myself do not pay e-tolls, so don't look at me that way. I do lift though, often.
