Because if today it might not touch you on your high ground but with the lower class being eroded the middle class becomes the lower class and the high class become the middle class each not caring for a united front and thus easily defeated. Divide and conquer.

Those people are obviously very short sighted.
The future complications if this system succeeds FAR outweigh the risks of non payment.

This is Phase 1. What about Phase 2 and then maybe 3,4,5,6 (who knows where it will end).
What is stopping municipalities from rolling out e-tolling in suburbs if people comply? I can't find the article but I remember an ANC politician already hinting at it.
e-tolling is an easy cash cow and it will be milked where ever possible if it succeeds.
 
Phase 2 is being launched soon. Sanral are currently raising capital for this. Ironically they're also raising capital to repay their existing debt for phase 1 during this process. Phase 2 will cost in excess of R40bn, probably closer to R60bn. Phase 3 will launch soon thereafter at a cost that Sanral refuse to disclose, but guestimates put it higher than both phase 1 and 2. And this is only for Gauteng! Supporting this system means that you are now supporting phase 2 and 3. We will soon be paying thousands each month just to drive to work and back.

And Sanral are also embarking on E-Toll projects in other cities. Cape Town is next, Durban soon after, and essentially the sky is the limit for them thereafter. They're currently anticipating increasing their debt portfolio by what could amount to hundreds of billions of Rands.

People need to really wake the hell up. Submitting to this thieving bunch of liars only means paying far, far more later down the line. All because this government are both useless and corrupt. People paying their tolls are effectively absolving the government of this...

Sorry i just have to amend this.
I dont trust the rich fsuckers who dont feel the maximum registered monthly fee in their pocket and want to simplyfy their lives. The poor oke is gonna hmm and ha and eventually capitulate when he sees that his fart in the wind amounts to nothing and that the world is turning without him.

Then educate them regarding SANRAL's lies, including the 'blacklisting' of individuals.

What is their position on "blacklisting"?
In my very limited knowledge of these things, they can only blacklist you for not paying for something you signed up for in the first place? Right?
So signing up for a registered etag and account makes one liable then?

Only registered credit providers can blacklist you, AFAIK. They deliberately wanted to be exempt from the National Credit Act, as they say they're not providing credit.

Nobody will take a blacklist from SAMRAL seriously……. banks will just ignore them.

It is just SAMRAL propaganda!
