i have one question that perhaps some of you may have had experience with. Do the Active Rewards goal keep going up or is there a ceiling at some point. I have currently been on a goal of 1200 points for the last 3 weeks. i am wondering whether it will climb any further.

Currently that is the ceiling, will it change in the future? Who knows with Discovery

Don't worry about that ceiling because from 2 April you won't make it anymore :-)

No you will, you will just have to exercise more than once a week that's all.

I reviewed my workouts and my heart rate don't go high enough. So for my parkrun I get 300 points and 100 for my other workouts.

They basically screwed themselves.

They made the system where it was fairly easy to get a free apple watch and smoothies once a week and everyone started using it, the over-subscription was massive. Now they have to bail themselves out of that hole.

Free smoothies is one thing but the people who got the watch are getting screwed.

I can see this getting really ugly

I think it will be relatively easy to attain goals after 1 April. The only catch is that one needs to have a device that does heart rate. Good thing or not? Jury is out. They obviously looking for more evidence based activities due to the fact that it is possible to reach goals without too much sweat on your brow.

I have the devices, Apple Watch (Vitality) and Polar BUT I will not be able to attain the goals. I might get a 300 points once in a while if I decide to abandon my usual 1 hour workouts and do an exercise like jogging just to appease Discovery.

And once that weekly goal gets to 1200 even the people still slightly positive of trying to make it will also find it impossible.

/looks at his watch

*sigh*

If you are a runner or cyclist it won't be too difficult to reach 1200 points. Maintaining 80% heart rate for 30mins running is fairly easy. 3 runs a week is already 900 points. Add 3 visits to the gym and you are there.

I'm a runner or trying to be but I have problems:
1. I'm mostly training for speed not LSD (long slow distance) - running/resting and the resting messes up the average.
2. To get the 300 points I will have to pause/start the watch continually.
3. I try to train for at least 60 minutes not 30 and to stop the watch messes up my training.

So I can train to please discovery or train to get faster and I prefer to get faster. So I do train (very hard) but I won't get 300 points for that.

Do one of the online assessments a week, then go for your fitness test the next, then health test the next week. Enter a few running/cycling events and it's easy points :)

these do not count towards your activity rewards

Damn, that worked for me last year...
Do a race every week then :p

unfortunately for me my personal points ceiling is 900 and that will take too much effort for smoothies that I give away anyhow:cry:

I mainly swim so thats 6 x 100 and then I can go walk a park run for 300, but meh, swimming 6 days a week is just too much

Some watches have an autopause function that might be useful. But that probably means you need to stay stationary during your rest periods. This would work in track sessions, but not so much for hill repeats where you run up a hill and walk/jog back down.
