As we know discovery bank is launching early next year and it has been confirmed that they will a reward system.

Here some of points I have picked up so far from the images they provided:

1. High return on BP fuel, through you should be to get triple rewards from BP.
You will get points for swiping your discovery bank card as per normal.
More rewards for swiping vitality drive card you get with discovery car insurance.
Even more rewards by swiping your smart shopper card also, this reward scheme is launching this week.

2. High return on healthy foods at pick and pay and woolworths.

We need someone to find out a way how to get bills picked up as healthy foods :P

3. High return on dischem purchases

Guess you can buy electricity and might get a nice return on it.

But i'm white will i still get that? [/trollmode]

Keen to hear about the Smart Shopper rewards.

Keen for the whole idea, to be honest.

Just got an email and followed a link to this on their website: Looks like they'll do with iPhones what they've done with Apple Watches for Vitality fitness rewards:

"Discovery Bank is also partnering with iStore to offer iPhones to their clients: by achieving your Vitality Active Rewards money goals, you can fully fund a new iPhone (or, at least, fund it in part, depending how many monthly targets you hit)."

They spoke about it doing the launch. You will need to meet 11 or 12 goals a month to get a free a free month. 4 goals for Vitality, Drive and money. Which is quite unfair if you dont Drive 100km per week. But im quite excited particular on the Purple Bank account. Im assuming it will be the same benefit and criteria as the Purple card.

They could offer phones which aren't ridiculously expensive for fewer rewards. Like the less expensive Samsungs or throw in a Xiaomi or a Hauwei FFS.

Of course, the classic Discovery cross-sell. Purple card is too rich for my blood. Hopefully us plebs can get some decent rewards too.

There will be a new version of Vitality - Vitality Money (name subject to change)
You will need to be on Health Vitality and Vitality Money to get to the top rewards (and be Diamond status of course).

Rewards are great if you are tied into the Vitality world, example up to 75% off on flights, up to 100% off on gym, up to 75% off on HealthyFoods.

You are also eligible for a free iPhone with the bank, but you will need to do weekly tasks for it to be truly free financially.

Purple accounts are invite only.

Dynamic interests rates will be interesting, where Discovery will pay you a percentage back as a 'cash-back'.

Basically, to get the full value you will need both Health Vitality, Vitality Money and other Discovery products, but you can bank and use Vitality Money as a standalone (with less rewards).

Do u know if the 75% off flights include international flights. At the event they said it includes international flights.

Although discovery purple card/bank is an invite only. You can still send a motivation letters stating your reason for an invite. I'm gonna fill it out and try next year since I already got 4 purple products with them. They do state minimum income is 2.5million. So hopefully they will waive that requirement.

Yes the up to 75% is for both local and international flights (on partner airlines).

I am not sure about qualifying for Purple, I understand that they want to keep it exclusive. But seeing that you already are heavily into the Discovery ecosystem, they am sure they can make exceptions for you.

Thanx for info joining discovery medical in Feb as work will be paying for it, will be taking vitality health and canceling Edgars as vitality gives the movie benefit also.

Finally have my invitation to migrate over from my old discovery card to the new banking account. Has anyone done this and figured out all of the implications?

Is it unequivocally better than the straightforward rewards on the Discovery Card? What kind of weekly/monthly tasks or challenges do you have? Any downsides to making the switch?

If you following the discovery bank thread you will realise that ABSOLUTELY nothing is straight forward. I suggest you go there ASAP

I'm.personally not happy to have moved across purely that discovery miles are on hold for who knows how long.

Too high spend band for me to get the cash back

May look at FNB
