Discovery Bank

To be honest I've had the card and pretty much disappointed. The spand band is too high for me to get more than the 25. % back, I wanted a gold cc but it only gave me the platinum card, I never saw the option to open up the 1 account,and when I try now to open up it just being the option to leave details, I've seen no real new things other than after 20 transactions on my cc I get to play a reward on the Wednesday play.i was hoping for lounge access but only on the black card .and now to hear I'm not getting miles!!! I will have to follow up with discovery on that

They probably also only take 1k a day to stagger the opens. Then they show “growth” and it manages the peeps that open and either “abort” or do nothing on their accounts.
 
Hopefully they make a savings account plan just the basic 5Rand a month or Pay As You Use.

I think you will eventually get your miles. It’s just the system hasn’t been developed as of yet. So I think i might give the invite a pass until things settle down.

What is the spend band for the platinum package?
 
So im signed up and all is on the app. Was hoping for more info and more functionality on the discovery website, yet no - the website once i log in, still says "Submit your details to register"

If only i wasn't so into the game, id say stuff this :-)

I suppose you can’t join discovery bank and keep your old discovery credit card for the miles.
 
I have joined Discovery Bank, but currently am not impressed by their service. I had a second credit card on my old account for my mother. That seemingly cannot be brought over to the new Discovery Bank.

On their app, most of the functions bring back an error. in order to maintain your vitality money interest rates, you need to load proof of various pieces of information, except every time you try, you get told.....something failed.

Try to add an account, (save and invest).....loading failed

no help section on the app.

Log on to the website, i cannot access any banking at all.

they have a long way to go before being fully functioning.

the one good thing, I now have a tap and pay credit card.

Not trying to be rude here

That's why the Bank is still in beta testing it will take like a few delays to get it 100%

It seems they will be replacing miles with rewards that can be converted to real cash. Lots of information missing regarding actual numbers like how to get weekly rewards, etc.

EDIT: Went through the e-mail I received and found a link with the following point:
7. Your Discovery Miles
You will continue to earn Discovery Miles when you spend on your current Discovery Card until you join Discovery Bank. You earn 1 mile for every R15 you spend on your Discovery Card. You can track your Discovery Miles balance on the Discovery app, or website.

Once you join Discovery Bank, we will carry across your Discovery Miles balance so that you can continue to spend them online, instore or on your next flight. You will now be able to track this Discovery Miles balance on the Discovery Bank app.

As a Discovery Bank client, you will earn Discovery Miles based on your Discovery Bank credit card spend. These will accumulate separately on the Discovery Bank app and you’ll be able to spend them from September 2019 in even bigger, better ways. You’ll earn 1 mile for every R15 that you spend on your Discovery Black Card, or R20 on your Discovery Platinum or Gold Card.

So a worse ratio (R20 per mile) on the new Gold card. Although there are conflicting stories on the app vs this website (app says R15 per mile even on Gold card)

Could be wrong, but I believe that's just vitality money, not active rewards.
 
So I just phoned the bank and spoke to a very uninformed person who says the miles benefit hasn't been clarified as wether or not it will.continue, as on my profile it gives me the option to activate miles for R435 (every year it activates automatically) so why do the even give the option to activate it. She said I must not activate it. Also I can't go to a gold card ..I said why she said I just can't,

Oh so you will still get miles. Someone said they stopped getting miles. Can you confirm you received any miles on your discovery bank app.

I think they're still busy with that functionality... Once active, I'm sure they'll backdate and give the miles that we've earned.
 
If I read all the different posts about confusion and uncertainties then it seems like Discovery has at last created such a mess that they themselves don't even understand it. I think I'll steer clear for now.

Spoke to a Discovery banker. Converting Active Reward points to money is coming in the future - linked to the new "e-money"offering that will replace Discovery Miles but still in development.
