Discovery Bank

Yip 0% I think it's because I'm below the average spend of R4500 a month who knows they haven't sent any brochure.

Miles well I have my existing miles but I only got the new cc last week so if I get my miles it will only be next month, when I go onto their website it gives me the option to activate miles for R435 but their consultant told me not to as the miles benefit is on hold,

PS it's supposed to be up to 20% back.
I've sent them an email asking how to increase it yet I'm on Silver money status.

That is actually ridiculous!! How can it be 0 and they have zero literature on how you can earn it, I've spent the last while searching their site, can't find anything....

Will you keep us updated on your miles?

I think I'm going to wait until this all gets sorted, and if it doesn't I'm going to look at ebucks or Investec

So with regards to miles. You gonna get and be able to use your miles but only from September including your back spend before September. They will transfer your remaining miles now so you can use them.

So another words you will still get your miles for your current spend but it will appear and be able to use these new miles from September. That’s what the consultant said.

But their consultants have told us all different things, and their site is completely silent on miles going forward?

I'm a bit confused. I got my agreement and says to accept it online or on the app but I can't find where do it anywhere

Mine popped up in my inbox on the app.if I remember correctly I did accept it on the app

@TheJman ,is the cheapest Investec monthly account the private at R535?

Investec only have the one transactional account and that is it (they have another product called Enigma but that's only for really high net worth individuals).

If I go to https://www.discovery.co.za/vitality/rewards
I see this:
View attachment 688023

If I go to My discovery Drive section I see this:
View attachment 688025

So I assume that the rewards page isnt taking into account my 25% off Drive and only taking into account my Discovery Bankcard rewards sitting at 9%.
Yeah they are different independent cash back. My drive cash back is sitting at 50% but my vitality money cash back is at 0%. How did you get yours to 9% I'm in silver money status

I am on a Platinum card on Gold status....That must be how :/ the extra must be if you are on Diamond.

It's actually really easy to get Diamond status (the max). All you need is:

- 3x your monthly salary in savings (either in a Vitality savings account or with an investment manager. Savings in cash with other banks don't count (reason is they can't see it)
- Unsecured debt repayments must be less than x% of salary. Looks like 12.5%
- Motor vehicle and life insurance (standard GLA with employer counts)
- Saving x% of salary for retirement
.....

I wonder how they work this if you're a freelancer without a "salary".

I got an invite this morning. Went through the sign up process to see what the offer was. I already have Discovery Card and the offered interest rate was 1.5% more than what I currently have on DC, which isn't the best way to win customers IMHO. I had a look at price guide and rewards and can't say I'm blown away. Mainly because you have to do lots of mental gymnastics to figure out whether or not it's actually worth moving. While interest rate isn't everything it's at least a comparable measuring stick. I could probably save on monthly fees if I close my existing cheque account, but maintaining a specific balance means I pay zero fees there anyway.

Seems that to get to the diamond tier you need x3 monthly salary in savings. Will they then also waive the monthly account fee?

A quick run through the last few pages seems there is mixed reports on whether or not discovery miles will carry on (which kind of worked out reasonably well for me).

Present status: Not particularly enthusiastic.

HealthyFood and HealthyCare at 30%
HealthyGear at 20%
Fuel and Uber at 9% - going to miss discovery miles here
Interest rate went down 2% for me.

One thing though, I see to get 100% on gym you need to have a +1 account, but I wasn't offered one on sign-up...how do I go about doing that? I'd like to switch from just credit card to the suite...

I was told I needed to apply for the 1+ when I did the acceptance of my cc application,it never gave me the option

At least you got 9% for fuel. I'm on 0.yet I'm on Silver status. Wonder how that works, how do I get more than 0%?

This is from discovery Facebook sent to me

You’ll accumulate separate Discovery Miles each time you use your new card to shop. Although you’ll be able to view this balance on the app, you can only spend your Discovery Miles from 1 September 2019. You can earn 1 mile for every R15 that you spend on your Discovery Black Card, or R20 on your Discovery Platinum or Gold Card.

You can look forward to an enhanced Discovery Miles programme with an evolution of Discovery Miles into an e-currency that will give you even more value. Look out for more information on the changes later in the year.

I then asked if I need to activate it and pay the R435 .as I was not debited like I normally am

How have you okes jumped money status already?

I'm still on 0 points, however my bars are filled for each section (debt managemnt, insurance, property, savings etc..) Does it take time for the points to be allocated as I've only had my account for a week?
